Ok...I'll plant a flag in the ground for transparency and for fun*
2008 GT2
Speed Yellow
Black interior with full yellow stitching
$213k+ MSRP
Carbon Fiber interior bits
Bucket Seats
100% stock (no mods) At one point prior to my ownership it had aftermarket exhaust, but now original exhaust back on.
Only unknown if the passenger side lower rock panel was repainted. One of the previous "owners" who purchased from PNH said their dealer detected paint work in one spot. PNH did not. My PPI did not, but GT2 decal could be in that spot. I had it fully wrapped after paint measurements.
Full exterior Xpel wrap in 2020.
Open wallet maintained.
Delaminated carbon fiber bits on order (for over a year...PNH continues to tell me change in OE supplier delaying production)
10,700 miles
Clean Car Fax
PPI at 7500 miles when I bought it had 62 ignitions at Range 4 and 542 at Range 3. I doubt I've exceeded any Range 2 since I bought it.
$415k
Not bothering to list anywhere else besides this thread.
* Listing there because I'd sell there and be happy to have the money. I would be sad if it sells and not really expecting it to sell. This could be way off market, or not. Feels in the realm of what I thought was unrealistic asks, but who knows.
I'll report if car sells or if I get any serious inquiries.
Car is currently at Hendrick Porsche in Charlotte, NC getting a new rear shoe and new windshield (rock chip caused a crack).
Pulling the flag out of the ground and saying not going to sell. Hard to say where the market is. No one ever reached out, but then again, I never listed it or even mentioned the idea of selling except for here in this thread. I realized how hard it would be to buy back a Speed Yellow car, or really any GT2 with the confidence that I have in this particular car. I'm still driving it, not as much as I would like, but at least I'm seeing the end of the long wait of being able to get it properly garaged at my house which means 2023 will be more at lot more miles and smiles.
I thought about selling, but then what? Unless there is a need for the money I see no reason to sell these cars. Buy another car? Perhaps, but not much has the cool and exclusivity of a 997 GT2. Just seeing one in the wild is an event
I'm at 76K miles, driving as a DD on and off between other cars since new in 2009....
BTW, an '09 with 35K miles just sold at auction in the UK for £100K...... I thought it would fetch more, there were only 61 made for UK market but I feel the whole market is starting to turn, people can snIff inflation and interest rates and maybe recession !
That's impressive mileage @TB993tt ! Did you do a major refresh at some point or when you did the major mods? From everything I can gather, the GT2's are even more robust than the same gen GT3's. I'd also argue they are more useable on a daily basis. 42k on mine and rising quickly.
Crazy on the '09 sale. UK market has always been softer for some reason. By comparison, the questionable '08 mentioned above in post #598 was $276K.
Chris, my forged 800hp K24 motor was built about 40000 miles and 8 years ago, as long as all the electronic bits are kept up to scratch it has run like a clock with negligible oil use.
If its black or blue and has been well maintained, I'm always passively looking for a Scud.
Its a bit more on the loud side (Yellow). Its also not the type of example most of the "Ferrariati" are after (66k miles, TONS of track time, "driver" cosmetic condition), but its been very well maintained (over 60k in receipts!). Even in today's market it would probably only pull 140-150k, which is why I'm going to keep it. When I'm in the mood for a raucous experience, its an absolute riot, and there is literally nothing I would rather have for that kind of money since I've already scratched the mezger gt3 itch with my current 996 (which is getting a 3.9 as I type this). I gravitate towards "drivers" so I'm hopeful one day a 50k mile plus 7-2 with an accident will pop up and I'll be able to swing it LOL! (without having to sell anything!).

I hear you. Its why I don't have a 997 gt2 right now. Every time I drive the scud in anger I can't imagine selling it for anything else (I actually drove it in to work today!). But it is a complicated machine that is no where near as diy friendly (or reliable) as a good 'ole trusty manual mezger! On the plus side, every single f1-related component was replaced in my car before I got it, so the most problematic system in the car has already been addressed.
