I say this all the time! My local dealer had a pristine black/black with very few miles on it a few years ago, I drove in to look at it and saw it didn't have buckets and said no thanks.

I bought my first GT3 with sofas. As I started tracking more, I bought a set used (back then for 4k) and it totally changed the car. I know it seems silly but you get a much more connected feel in a GT car with buckets than sofa's. P

Um....I've never seen this feature on the 997 GT3/2. I don't have them on my 997 C4GTS either. Was this really an option? "Perimeter/approach lights" from the door handle?

I think the sofa's and buckets offer different experiences in the GT2, both good.

The torquey Turbo motor of the GT2 along with the relatively quiet exhaust, lend itself to a more comfortable grand tourer than the louder higher revving GT3 and the GT2 makes power everywhere and will walk a GT3.

That said, I've owned GT2's with sofas and buckets, and have very much enjoyed both experiences.

It also seems that the price gap that once existed between buckets and sofas, has now collapsed on each other.

All that said, I have been advised that the 2,700 mile 08 GT2 that was just received by Grand Prix Motors is being listed at 399k.

The 08-09 997.1 GT2 market has moved.

I never liked the buckets for street use. The sport/adaptives offer all the support you could need. On the track, it's a different story. When you're literally pushing the car to it's limits they do make a difference. You're not doing that on the street though. If you say you are, you're either lying or endangering peoples lives. These cars have way too much speed and grip to be be fully exploited on public roads. I'm guessing most people would actually prefer the sport seats for street use but as stated, that's just a guess.

Buckets are way more comfortable for me on a long drive. After spending some time in buckets, I have my sport seat backs set way more vertically than I would have in the past. Much easier on the spine.

We actually did an analysis a little while back and found that sofa cars sell for more, at least as of a few months ago:

I’m pretty sure this car belongs to the owner of the dealer and he just sold his black .1 RS on BAT after it sat for 2-3 years in their inventory priced way over market. I guess if you don’t drive your cars and you own a dealer, why not list it for sale and maybe someone makes an offer you can’t refuse.

Welp....gone now it seems. I guess prices really are in the mid or high 300's? If anyone thinks 400's is right, we should talk

Snaveed said he has been looking for 997 GT2’s and when he buys he buys quite a few and at TOP dollar. IDK if he has anything to do with these recent sales.

Do it....we need a verified transaction for the market spreadsheet and chart!
.......although on second thought, with the way things are going, you might regret it a few months later.

I have a factory 997 GT2 car cover which I don’t think has been out of the factory bag if anyone is interested.

Agreed. Heard that a yellow 08 .1 GT2 is coming to market soon with a $400k plus ask.

Also a 9k mile white .2 GT2RS just sold at Braman in Palm Beach for nearly $500k dealer to dealer, and will be relisted for $559k.

Always wondered why the 997.1 GT2 was trading for less than its original MSRP when only 200 or so units came to America.

It never made sense, and now it appears that this interesting market has adjusted the price.

I think people overpaying for new GT cars now will likely see some downside; however, with production numbers as low as they are on the 997 GT2, the likelihood of a big market adjustment down is unlikely considering the wealth of the buyer who is likely purchasing this car. The purchase of a 14 year old GT2 is likely not an overreach, but rather someone adding to a growing collection.

Interesting times to own GT2s.

All Things Porsche is now flipping this one after purchasing it from Intersport Performance for $370k. Can’t imagine what they are asking. Probably well in the $400k’s. Insane!
