^ possibly the dumbest quote ever on the list....clearly, BHunt, you may have been "face down on the hood" more times than you would like to admit which might provoke you to make such a statement.

Def. a sad story and sorry to hear of a fellow lister who has been having such a hard time.

keep your head up, Crispenigl ...it will work out.

.
Just curious, why? If he was posting that he was glad to be done with "the POS" maybe I'd be suspicious, but he wants exactly what was taken from him. Albeit newer but you really can't honestly think someone would go to the trouble, and risk to get a year newer car.... And I'm assuming that the insurance will not cover the cost of the "upgrade".

The business of insurance is only good when you're paying premiums, when it comes time to claim damages/loss thats a whole different story.

The car can be stolen as the previous post/article but what's puzzling is that why go to the trouble of torching it. If this car was indeed stolen, I'm sure kids are not involved, mostly syndicates specializing in euro exoticsand shipping it overseas ala "gone in 60 seconds" There's no way a thief will strip a car like this and sell it for parts like a Honda or Toyota.

Also, I noticed the OP mentioned he's been car shopping. I would refrain from posting in a public forum like this one about shopping for a new GT3 even though the claim is not settled yet and being investigated by law enforcement , to an investigator this doesn't look good.

This is just my opinion and you need excellent legal representation to battle your insurance company. With this bad economy, the last thing they want is to pay up.

Good luck..

I would heed the advise in 997for40's post. There are really two determinations being made concurrently and simultaneously here. The main one at present is the criminal investigation by the Police. However, there is almost assuredly also a claim investigation being undertaken by the comprehensive carrier. It will track the police to a point. However, the Police investigation is not conclusive to the carrier as the the carrier's obligation is contractual based upon specific policy language. The OP needs to keep both in mind to chart thru this mess.. I would not be public more than absolutely necessary, be that about what happened or about what the future plans are, as the talking about the same serves no beneficial purpose. Best & GL..

I understand the point you and others have made, however, as a matter of principal, I think it is terrible to 'live in fear' of retribution and choose not to be 'quiet'. We live in America right? Not in some corrupt land where you're guilty until proven innocent.

I did nothing wrong and why should I abstain from sharing what happened with others who might some day be impacted in the same way. (I sincerely hope that it never happens to any of you.)

Im short, I was the victim of a terrible crime and I am sharing my experience in this forum may help some of you if it ever happens to you.

As attractive and specific this post was, it still did not answer the question to why he could not discuss looking for a new car. Is he supposed to wait until the claim is paid? I would assume that if someone loses a vehicle they would be looking to replace it, either with new or one of the same year. I'm pretty sure people do that when they lose a car. IMHO I think there's way too much fear in thinking that the internet is big brother.

You guys are correct of course, in 'principle'. In the 'practical' world, however, things aren't often as clear/clean.

Eharrison: The original cited post indicated that Ins Cos often look for any reason (read: excuse) to deny or delay paying a claim. My comments were made in that context - The more one says, the greater the chance that the carrier finds a "reason" to delay/deny. Anyone here can quite easily concoct an "alternate reality" that wld fit the typical SIU/Fraud Unit-way of seeing things. The only point is that they see things differently. As with anything insurance, careful control of the "facts and circumstances" is necessary to avoid an unnecessary and often expensive battle.

Greg: I do agree with you and hope that comes across in my posts. See above as to why I posted what i did. I truly hope all works out for you and they see the light (which they will ultimately). My concern was related to the expense of getting them to that point! And yes it could happen to any of us - all of it. Best & GL ..

Greg, sorry to hear this about your car. Hopefully, in the end it all works out without too much more incremental stress.
