What's the point? Worth the risk?

My GUESS is that they lifted the car (flat bed or wiring it), called into home base, found out that there was no market for the car and then torched it.

Or maybe it was some guy who just was a hater?

It can be hard to understand criminals and it doesnt always fit into the comic book story world.

I would love to know the answer for sure.

I wish I had the photos to show how the car was found.

It was 20 feet off the main road which was all sandy and packed dirt.

It was resting on a major incline with a super sharp angle.

Id be willing to bet $$ that it was dropped off a flat bed.

Plus I didnt see my tire tracks there at all.

Cops claim they have a witness that saw it drive up and get left there.

I forgot to say I'm sorry.

That really sucks.

I'm sorry to hear about your car. The story of the detective accusing you is very similar to something that happened to me back in 1988. I was living in Bloomington IN and had my 84 Rx7 stolen. For about an hour I had 2 cops repeatedly asking me which highway I had wrecked the car on despite my insisting that I was out with friends while the car was taken.
The next morning they found the car in a corn field in Terra Haute,....stripped then torched. No apology issued of course.

Sorry about your loss,...there will be another.

late to the story but flatbeds are not the only tool. not sure how the car was parked but if it was nose in a repo truck could ****** it very quickly without leaving marks (not saying it was repo'ed just using that tool). Your case will hinge on the garage video and the video of surrounding establishmets . Best of luck it sucks

i wonder if the cops did a search on stolen tow/flatbed trucks within a 500 mile radius?

^ It doesn't sound like they are doing much of anything other than blaming the owner and (presumably) eating donuts ..

Rob do you have children? Have they ever done stupid stuff you dont have a clue why they did it?
My son discharged my fire extinguisher in the back yard. For NO reason. Both the kids (both boys)
played hockey in the living room with baseball bats and took out my 60 gallon saltwater reef tank.
Why?

Now take a drugged up criminal lame brain and then try to give me a GOOD reason to steal a car then torch it.

Yea I have kids. I bought my 17 yr old a TDi Beetle today. He flipped and totaled my Range Rover last summer - on our driveway, taking the trash to the road.

I get it.

Up until recently I was in Vegas since '96 and spent part of that time working hotel security. Never heard of anything like this happening.

Especially to a car that stands out so much and requires specialized tools to steal

Even for criminals their work is based on risk / reward. Doesn’t make too much sense why they would go through all the trouble of stealing it only to burn it. There is no payoff in that for a thief and a ton of risk.

I will stay tuned to see how this all unfolds
