You can always skip this thread if it doesn't suit you. Might be a good idea.

What it means is if the car can be started by you it can be started by someone with the necessary equipment.

There was a big stink years ago about "unstealable" cars being stolen. Claims were denied. After years of this finally someone who had his car stolen started digging into this and found out that unstealable cars can be stolen.

If the money's there, there are those that will figure out a way.

Sorry to read out your trials/tribulations. Hope it all works out for you.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Watt, you know I rarely disagree with you but this is out of line. Not all of us can afford what ever dream car we want at the flick of the check book. This guy lost his dream car then gets roughed up by the police.
I dont see any reason he cant vent here. The rest of us want to see how this turns out. The chance of my new 997 being stolen in my town is remote but I worry when I take it to LA or Vegas. I want to know what the bottom line is on this car or any new 997.1 or 997.2 being stolen.

Words of Wisdom:

1. Lawyer up now.
2. All communication should go through 1.
3. Do not continue to speak with the local PD unless through 1.
4. Do not continue to speak with your insurer unless through 1.
5. Start a detailed journal and document everything since day 1.

Good luck and let us know when you prevail ! ...

I don't think Watt was being personal.

He was expressing a sentiment along the lines of "if it is too good to be true". There have been some remarkable cons!

On the other hand, from the OP's perspective "truth is stranger than fiction".

This is the internet and the "wise" will consider all the angles, including the potential bias of the poster, or the incompleteness of the information to serve the purpose (in every post).

As always "Caveat Emptor"

And, I hope the OP and reader get a speedy resolution, but it seems like a "mess" and a curious situation.. no judgement or innuendo implied.

My comments are not about the OP.

My comments are about the "internet and posts" in general... and related reactions. All's fair!

I saw an interview with a car thief (very professional ). They asked him " how can I prevent you from steeling my car?"
Answer: "Don't buy one."

Had something similar happen a few years ago with a pair of new jet skis. I had them parked at my office while I was moving to a new house. Police came by & told the office personnel they would be stolen if left there. They were stolen a couple of days later.

Detective accused me of setting up the theft for insurance money. I told him I wanted an attorney and to leave. Next day I filed a complaint against him. He later stopped by to apologize.

Macster, This is EXACTLY what I am up against. The detective says that the cars are impossible to steal so I must be in on it.

Do you have any links to those stories??

Thanks,
Greg

They would not let me see the car, so they may have stripped out the air bags or something else valuable. It is very odd.

A. Car was put on flat bed, the retards attempted to figure it out, got pissed/scared and burned it.
B. Somehow, someway another key besides the two in your possession was produced and used to simply drive off with the car. But this would have to be a inside job (reason for detective being a *** wipe) or someone within a dealer that your car had visited in the past, programing a key without your knowledge.

Did you ever use the other key (the one at home in L.A.) in the recent past? I ask because when you program a new key, ALL keys must be present to be programed, or they will be useless.

This is FUBAR to the very definition. Hope it all works out. Oh and FYI the 2010 GT3 is the Cats MEOW!!! Just got one in yesterday, awesome!!!

They garage area where I parked was deserted - My mistake.

I didnt use that other key in a long long time.

Is the 2010 a much better car than the 997.1?
