I was bored and used some AI transformers to design the hybrid offroad version of my .2 GT3RS almost looks like a GT4 Dakar

997.1 GT3. Did coils and plugs (car had original coils at ~40k miles). The worst one is pictured below.

I also took off the awful anti-theft wheel screws, and replaced with regular hex head OEM ones. The part number is 99736198007, for anyone that is interested!

A little dirty, but not too bad. Car still ran well, but I can tell it runs smoother now.

Drove it to work. Parked perfectly to avoid those door dings!

Swapped in OEM shifter cables for the Cup cables that were on the car, rebuilt the shifter with the Function First Shift-Right kit, and changed the trans fluid (Motul 75W90).

Discovered the car had an OEM 7.2 GT3 short shifter and not a Cup shifter as I’d thought, so the FF parts were less of a change than expected, but it’s a rather nice bit of kit regardless. The clearance between the shift cradle and the locknut that holds in the shift yoke is hilariously tight, but it works.

The rubber grommet holding the shift cables was much less painful than feared with the help of WD-40, an old socket, and a rubber mallet. I would not have wanted to do this job without a lift though!

My two other small tips - 1) make sure you (or your neighbour…) have snap ring pliers for the FF kit install, and 2) when installing the shift cables, lock the clips into the shifter housing first, and then lock them into the brackets on the trans side - easier to align that way.

Otherwise these threads were perfect: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...placement.html and https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...moval-diy.html

Went ahead and did the GT2 side skirt change this weekend. Very easy swap but highlighting a couple of things.

There are 2 torx screws within the rear wheel arch, one outside and 1 inside the arch liner.

Once all the underside torx are removed the panel/skirt pulls out away from the car. Looking at the new part with the fixings attached you might think the part unclips and pulls down but you actually carefully pull away from the car. The skirt slides out from the attaching clips, which you can then remove without damaging the skirt or body work.

Then it's a very easy cleaning of the exposed body work and fit new skirts.

Below are side by sides of the old painted skirt compared to new GT2, the additional flare is quite noticeable:

And then a couple of side by sides at a car meet today:

Really liking these compared to the previous painted version.

In July I sent my calipers off to PMB Performance to refinish and rebuilt them -- new seals, pucks, bleeder screws, etc. 'Very happy with the work and attention to detail. I don't know that I'd trust anyone else to refinish Porsche calipers properly.

'Decided to treat the GT3 (and my other 997) to new centerlock nuts. Fun fact: I was sent a mix of center locks with part numbers: 997-361-181-06 & 997-361-181-07. 07 is the superseded part number and it is distinctly a darker shade than 06 that came on our cars. I had to send the 06s back and get all 07s to match.

This time around I decided to try ceramic coating the calipers and the cosmetic faces of the centerlocks to see if they hold up a little better.

Got everything reinstalled with new caliper bolts and bled the brakes.

(If anyone is interested in purchasing extra set of centerlocks, shoot me a DM. I've got 2 sets; 20K miles & 48K miles)

I saw that the 992 GT3 Center Locks are retro active and work on 997s...probably too late to exchange and they probably cost a lot more

Those BAT seats sold for $20,000? If anyone needs a set I'll part with mine for $20,000.

Hang on to them. Will be worth more than that every subsequent year.

That's so cray, I gave $5,400 to Betim for my set and they were pulled out of a new car.
