The .2 is objectively better in almost every way, and you don't have to worry about spun camshafts ($6k+) or coolant pipe ($3k) disasters. They've proven to be quite reliable and moddable, too.

However, in my opinion the consumer-grade wet sump 9A1 engine shared with the base Carrera and Boxster just doesn't feel as special as the LeMans/air-cooled descendent Mezger plant, which was discontinued in part because it was just too expensive to keep making. I opted for an 09 specifically because that kind of romantic stuff appeals to me, and I like all the rattly noises it makes, but if you don't care about that kind of thing the .2 is probably the one to have. The .2 has other niceties like a better PCM (introduced in 09) and suspension.

Well that 2008 Turbo at Porsche Lehi sold over the weekend. Did somebody here buy it? Guess I should have jumped on it.

A guy at work is selling his 2007 Turbo......

2007 997.1 Turbo 6spd....

"The 997 Turbo has been a wonderful car, a complete beast and just ticked over 14,000 miles. I am selling with both the stock turbo stars and the silver/black fuchs (pictured) wrapped with new pilot sport 4s'. The only other mods are Fabspeed exhaust and I added bluetooth to the stock stereo (including the stock exhaust system). This one has the bulletproof mezger engine that was in the GT# cars, PSM, chrono package, short shift, multi-function wheel, full leather etc. Looking for $85k. Let me know if you or someone you know is interested in this super low mileage beast."

Don't know about the price but he took a long time to source that car and is a meticulous guy. Cary, NC as far as I know. I'll see can I get him to put an ad together in the marketplace.

The other issue with 997.2 TTs is the dearth of cars with manual transmission. If you can find one, the seller is asking a premium.

No Alcantara and no sport seats. Frankly I can do without alcantara because it does not hold up long-term but that's me. I do prefer sport seats...but the Aero Cup package is nice. All in all I think $75k is fair. When's the last time you saw a manual GTS with aero? Nice car.
