My prod month is 12/2007. I'm guessing it works because I have a factory multifunction wheel.
What are the front/rear modules you are referring to?

the 09's came out mid 2008 so your car was one of the later 2008 builds... basically you have the 2009 newer steering wheel module, and front/rear (front controls front lights, rear controls rear lights, spoilers etc etc) modules as well.

I'd love to install the 991 Sport wheel on my 07. Its a great price at Suncoast and would really look great. Sounds like w/o 09 module I'm out of luck?

Worst case, the horn doesn't work - I daily drive mine in NoVA, so horn is 100% necessary.

I'm pretty sure a non-functioning horn is a illegal - a horn not working can be a major safety issue.

actually from what I'm reading now - if you have any 997.1 with the triangle multi-function wheel, you should be able to swap to the 997.2 wheel WITHOUT having to change the steering wheel module; and get the horn to work by 'enabling multifunction' in your steering wheel module.

Hi guys,

I have a manual 2005 997.1 which originally had a m/f wheel on it which I changed to the 997.2 m/f - I had to change the control module module in mine to get the horn working. I have also since did this upgrade for three others and also had to change the module then too!

Here is the thread I had going at the time which may be of interest:

Long time without a horn, but finally got the 997.2 steering control module, and it works!

So, echoing what everyone else is saying, you'll likely need the module to get the horn working.

Here's a dumb question for you--would the PDK wheel work on a 6-speed car? Reason I ask is because the 6-speed Sport wheel is next to impossible to find (6+ month backorder), whereas the PDK wheel is readily available on all corners of the internet.

yes - if you have heated seats and if you install the relevant control module.
Part number: 997.613.299.00 then the Heated Steering Wheel function will work.

The part number for later control module that will enable all those without horn or m/f controls working is: 997.613. 289.01

The control module sits within the steering column behind the indicator and wiper stalks. You need to remove the steering column upper and lower cowells and then you will find an allen screw under the stalk assembly slacken this off and the complete stalk assembly will slide off the steering column with the horseshoe shaped control unit attached to the rear - unscrew and repalce with later unit and enable with PIWIS. - I'm not sure if Durametric is capable of enabling.
