I have the exact same issue.

Early 2009 997.2 with the old style steering wheel non mf.

Installed a 997.2 new style as seen on the pic. No error codes, but the horn does not work. Going to the dealer next week to ask them if they can enable multifunction in PIWIS. Hope it will work

If I have the Early 2009 997.2 with the old style steering wheel non mf, round air bag, etc. and get it rewrapped. Reinstall should be fine with no codes thrown or anything like that right?

You're asking if you take it off then put it back on, will it throw codes? No..

Well technically, if you send it out to get rewrapped, the company could just send another steering wheel with your specifications and keep your core. And since this early 09 997.2 non-mf steering wheel is like some of the 997.1 non-mf steering wheels...

When the dealers activates the multifunction on the non-mf wheels, do they do it thru the OBD2, or do they have to connect thru the steering wheel column?

OBDII port.. there's nothing to connect to in the steering wheel column.

yes OBDII. also the 'enabled multifunction' to ON should be right in the GATEWAY module.

i have friends who have visited indy shops who specialize in porsche spend over an hour unable to find 'enable front DRL' in the FRONT headlight module. i figure they are pretending in order to extend $hop time as it makes no sense that a specialist company wouldn't be able to find settings/switches that are placed VERY intuitive and logical locations (in addition to the fact that they work on these cars day in/day out and make a living being a 'specialist' on these types of cars.)

as long as its a 6 speed car and a 2009 porsche, then they are 100% the .1 series of steering wheels.

Sourced a new 997.2 gt3 wheel for my 07. Didn't realize I needed a new airbag but makes sense. I'm sure I can source one used. Anyone have part number available? Is that all I'll need? Thanks

id say most of the black circle airbags on eBay are 997.2 991.1 will fit your new wheel? if you interior is plastic dash (not full leather) even better becuz 95% of the black airbags are plastic cover as well. if unsure feel free to pm me with the steering wheel you want and ill help identify if it fits your steering wheel or not.

"multifunction plate, i have" - yoda of 997.2 steering wheel conversions.

as an aside - i will be putting up for sale this beautiful 12,XXX mile black heated 997.2 wheel with a non-multifunction silver trim plate (from my other 997.2 steering wheel) in a month..... for a fair 200 USD.

Almost there!
