yes - if you have heated seats and if you install the relevant control module.
Part number: 997.613.299.00 then the Heated Steering Wheel function will work.
The part number for later control module that will enable all those without horn or m/f controls working is: 997.613. 289.01
The control module sits within the steering column behind the indicator and wiper stalks. You need to remove the steering column upper and lower cowells and then you will find an allen screw under the stalk assembly slacken this off and the complete stalk assembly will slide off the steering column with the horseshoe shaped control unit attached to the rear - unscrew and repalce with later unit and enable with PIWIS. - I'm not sure if Durametric is capable of enabling.

Yes, If you are retrofitting a 997.2 heated steering wheel into a 997.1 it will need to have heated seats and will need the control module I mentioned earlier in order for the heating aspect of the wheel to work, regardless of wether its m/f or non m/f.

I considered getting a PDK wheel and removing the paddles, since it's hard to find a manual trans one. There shouldn't be any reason for anything to be different between PDK/manual.

I am attempting this in the next week or so. I have a 2007 with multi-function wheel. Soon we will have another data point if the module is needed with the multi-function and 07 model.

Now for another dumb question... do I need to buy a new airbag unit of will the airbag for my regular steering wheel work?

Welp, I'm in luck... it looks like not only does Suncoast have their 6MT 997.2 Sport wheels in stock, but they've also marked them down to $695. Super excited to get this installed because I personally think this is one of the nicest OEM steering wheels of any manufacturer.

Oh sweet! And no, I bought the black alcantara wheel and GT3 ****/boot to match. Hopefully it looks as good as I think it will. Also bought a 991 lip spoiler so hopefully I can get everything installed in the next couple of weeks.

from what i know, once the new steering module has been installed - make sure the following settings are activated 'ON'.
Tiptronic (for auto guys), multi-function wheel, cruise control, headlight washers, push to talk, and rear wiper need to be activated (and make sure to take a screen cap of your existing steering module settings).

well i guess I'm next.
now I'm looking for the multifunction steering controller in black.
added the
- thicker padding
- grey stripe at top
- black perforated leather
- smooth sea blue leather
- oem 2-tone design
no complaints so far, looks like don@dallas wheels has done it again.
the blue leather he chose is a solid match for the oem sea blue leather.... especially since having inspected the oem sea blue leather interior carefully, you realize nothing is a 100%, even the oem stuff.
