New steering wheel - 997.1 to 997.2 retrofit
Just ordered a GT2RS steering wheel and shift ****. My car is a 6speed 08 C4s. I have searched and found some threads on the 997.1 to 997.2 steering wheel retrofit, but I am unclear on what I exactly need.
I know I need the 997.2 airbag. But, since my current wheel is not multifunction or tip, do I need the control module? Or anything else aside from the airbag? Will I need to reprogram anything, to accept the new airbag?
Some pics...

I think I remember reading that if you have a base wheel, with no controls, that the steering wheel and airbag are plug and play, if your .2 steering wheel also does not have wheel controls.

mike this one is a tough one, i have read it both ways on the forums as i have looked into this before.
what i would do is figure out the part number for the steering wheel control module for both 997.1/997.2 for non multifunction and multifunction cars. programming i have your back with the durametric pro. while unlikely there is a chance that the newer airbag requires a newer control module for activation.

New wheel and shifter is installed. Feels great and gives the interior a much more sporty feel. Ive got read seatbelts too, so all the red accents work nicely together without being too much red.
Fairly straight forward install, following instructions on the net.
Disconnected battery and got no persisting errors after install.
However, my horn doesnt work. It is going in and out fine, but no sound. Researching on the web, and it seems like a common problem. Looks like a need a new control module, but Ill do a bit more research first, before ordering one.
The old setup looked something like this...

Oh, so you were the one that bought this set on eBay ...
I just picked up a normal, non-multifunction, no-frills 997.2 wheel myself. I have the non-sport .1 wheel with the thin spokes and no thumb grips. I hate it. Now I'm on the hunt for a .2 airbag.
If I recall correctly, the horn won't work when you swap from a .1 wheel to a .2 wheel unless you take a .2 steering wheel module to your dealer for coding. You need to download the data off the .1 module and upload it to the .2 module.
I bought my wheel for $200, but with the cost of an airbag ($600-900) and a module ($150-250), I'm going to spend damn near $1,000 for a f***ing steering wheel.
I can hear all my racing buddies laughing at me.

Hopefully Ill be able to get the horn working without buying the module, but I think from what I have read, Ill probably need it.
Ill see if MYW can work some magic with the Durametric

i will try, at the very least we will load up the steering module and read the codes its throwing (very likely airbag related), then screen capture the settings for the new module!!! oh and you can pick up your washer nozzles too!
Yeah, the price adds up quickly. This combo gouged the wallet even deeper, as I paid a premium for the GT2RS stuff, and then the guys at the Canadian border were nice enough to ding me with extra taxes and duties.

I don't think there are any airbag codes, as I receive absolutely no lights on the dash indicating a problem. Everything is perfect, except the horn doesnt work.
In any case, Ill ping you soon to setup a time to drop by.
