Well . . . I walked into the garage this morning at 7:00 to go to work and remembered I had disconnected the battery last night to reset some codes.
Oops. Although I know better, I closed the frunk. Crap.
Guess where the jumper cables are?
Guess where the jump pack battery is?
None in the grocery getter either. Crap.
The emergency cable is inside the front drivers wheel well behind the plastic. Arghhh.
Rennlist says there is access behind the turn signal, so I pry it open and see nothing. Go read again and figure its worth a better look. So I pry it off again, breaking the lens. Fvck. (it will glue back though). Turns out this is in the GT's
Try a trickle charger on the pull out fuse lead and the door latch. Nope.
End up pulling the grocery getters battery and using some wire to jump the fuse lead and the door latch. Success!
Wifey is now up and I tell her about my unexpected morning.
"Well ate least your fully decorated Christmas tree didnt fall over twice yesterday."
Finally got rid of the Interstate Blem that came with the car. The restart feature sold me on the antigravity battery after having to yank that cable in the wheel well to get to the battery once. Shaved off 32.4 pounds In the process as well!
Do tell... better ride or tired of bent wheels or hard to find tires...?
Ride harshness really.
Love the way the 19” wheels look and honestly was shocked when I threw the 18’s on and realized that I wasn’t wincing when hitting expansion joins and potholes. They feel so good.
300+ TW Summer Tire choice is limited for 18’s for the rear are the MPS4S at 285/35 or Conti SportContact 02 at 295/35.
Might try a light 19x12 with 325/30-19 at some point for more sidewall.
Putting things back together. Forgot how much fun the belts were. Think I put on and took of brackets and hardware 4 times before I got everything routed and installed correctly. One challenge is you can't get to the main belt tensioner once the supercharger tensioner is installed and you can't tension the main belt until part of the bracketry is installed or the belt tension will bend one of the cage shafts.
Forgot the magic combo since it's been a while since I did this.
Installed Function-First shift cable ends. Purchased Black Friday special bundled with the Shift Right Solution. Will tackle the SRS in coming weeks. Put the car up on four jack stands. Followed the excellent instructions on the FF website. Took a couple of hours. I was not able to remover the old cable ends using dikes and ended up using a small Dremel cutting barb. New cable ends went in lickity-split. Also followed their bonus tip by zip tieing cable holder blocks to transmission bracket to help prevent them from slipping out. Took about two hours start to finish.
Quick checkout drive and pleased. Not significant, but do feel a bit more direct in shifting. No vibration whatsoever. Might be placebo effect, but for ~ $100 and a couple of hours no regrets.
Finally replaced these damn broken plastic pieces so the rattling can finally stop.
I know my driver's side one is broken, but so far it only rattles over hard bumps so it's down on the list. All I did to day was drive mine to lunch and give it a wash.
