GDay Amrit.boxter,
I'm also in NZ (Queenstown) so a question or two for you if I could please.
I have a 2005 997.1 with standard non Bose stereo and want to do exactly what you have done as the two front woofers have blown.
Where did you get both sets of Focal ISU200 and ISU100 speakers from?
How much did it cost you in total in total?
Did you change speakers only or the amp as well?
If you left the stock amp and system as is did it handle the new speakers okay and if so how does the upgrade all sound?
Thanks heaps for any help you can give me...

- as a resource, i highly recommend watching this video start to finish. helped me a lot in terms of what to expect.
- if you want to go ahead with the focals keep in mind those above extra steps i showed in my pics about bending that metal on front of speakers and cutting it, so you'll need some extra form of tools for that. i used some pliers and an old metal cutter, nothing fancy but got some extra callous on the hands for few days lol. despite that extra work, i do recommend the Focals they are relatively affordable on current specials and great quality. wouldn't want to fit cheaper parts on the 911
- purchased from https://drivingsound.co.nz/
- isu200 8" woofers were $299 https://drivingsound.co.nz/product/f...nent-speakers/
- icu100 4" door midrange speakers were $169 https://drivingsound.co.nz/product/f...-way-speakers/
- paid total of $480.50 for the ICU100 midrange speakers and the ISU200 door woofersinc shipping
- if you are feeling budget conscious, double check which actual speakers you need to replace. most likely only need to replace the 8" door woofers rather than the 4" ones. put your ear up against them and check it out. my woofer cones were done for so i noticed an awesome sound difference there which is expected. i didn't notice any appreciable difference with the midrange speakers but my thinking when ordering was its only $169 extra and i may as well sort it while i have the door open
- ps. buy some door panel clips too. about $30nzd for bag of 25 clips. this place had a 2 day delivery time for me https://carclips.co.nz/vw-car-clip-cc11249
- i am using the stock amp, it's the "ASK" amp. so if your speakers work now, they will continue to work after the speaker swap, just sound better. i think process is different for bose systems but sounds like you have same as me.
- i changed my headunit to sony xavax3200 for apple carplay, but you don't have to if you don't want to, this speaker change will work just fine with everything else as factory.
- upgrade overall sounds amazing. i am very pleased with the sound in my car. keep in mind i am not an audiophile, maybe just few steps above a normal persons expectations, i consider this amazing value for money. original plan was some form of custom subwoofer either in the back (where bose systems put it) or slim one in passenger footwell but with these 8" focals going, i do not feel any specific need anymore. the balance of sound is great. now i have other problems like the grills around the body (gt3 aero kit) vibrating which makes it sound quite cheap from the outside.. i don't hear that inside though so only people in traffic will think my car is broken lol.
- as a DIY for first time, put aside half a day. my main issue was pulling off the door cards, required more force than i thought. dont worry it won't break. the other thing is to watch that video i linked start to finish, rather than doing what i did which was watch a little, do it, try to fit it asap. then find out i have to do more.
- this is a good reference for removing the door panels itself and where all the screws are https://cai-store.com/pages/car-audi...ns-for-997-987
- purchased from https://drivingsound.co.nz/
- some torx screw drivers / bits 25 and 30
- 9v or 1.5v battery to test the polarity of speakers (though i think i took pics, can probably provide this to you if you want as im sure between '05 and '06 carrerra they wouldn't have changed that)
- metal cutter
- strong pliers
- some spare decent gauge wires
- solder/soldering iron
- trim prying tool and some masking tape where you use it so you don't damage the fairly fragile rubber
- craft knife - but your life will be easier if you have something like a dremel

Amrit.Boxter, can't thank you enough for the effort and detailed explanation you have provided.
It answers all my questions regarding the upgrade including more such as purchasing extra mounting clips.
All the links for purchasing whats required is also a god send.
I have 2 x blown woofers in the front doors but will now upgrade all 4 front speakers with the same Focals you used while I am in there.
Some EOM Bose speakers were unfortunately purchased but they will now have to be resold or binned.
Live and learn.
Mate, if you are ever down Queenstown way you let me know and we'll catch up for a beer.
Good news for you is I'll be shouting as a thank you.
Also as you probably already know, some great driving here such as the Crown Range and the Glenorchy / Queenstown Road (which I live on).
Thanks again mate...

The roads around Queenstown and the entire west coast up to Abel Tasman are spectacular drives, especially in a 911. Though @Amrit.boxer has to put his car on the ferry to enjoy them.
Other than driving on the "wrong side" of the road, they are amongst the best in the world.
And the mountains are "Remarkable"!
Cheers.

I will add another peeve here- when quoting a post with multiple pictures, don't quote the entire post, just the relevant pic or verbage. Scrolling through multiple quoted posts with pictures is almost as annoying as @Climarepair.com 's shameless shililng of his product... @Prairiedawg 's comment in his signature block rings true.
P.S. There's an option to include or exclude one's signature block in a reply. Scroll down and use it as necessary. Our avatars contain enough info for ID. I've been a huge offender with a busy signature block. No more.

Liste-Renn,
You've obviously been here before!
Yeah, the roads are pretty magic for both driving cars and riding motorbikes of which I enjoy both.
The West Coast run is a goodie as you say but around the South Island is also great.
I feel very fortunate indeed...
