yes. There is aftermarket uv protectorate tho which I put on. The 3M kit has a wipe with protector but also used this

Some early morning backroads and a quick stop at MCDs.

Trying to get as much driving in as I can the last few weeks. I am headed in for disk fusion tomorrow and will be down for a while

Hit some twisties with a friend and his new M3, he’s had a 996 and 991 prior.

Now with a new baby, back doors are almost a must.

I am sometimes hesitant to drive my friends cars, especially ones that have obtained a collective God Status amongst automotive journalists. However I always walk away with a new appreciation of my car.

Re: the new M3, can really feel the weight from behind the wheel. Back to back the 911 feels like a go cart and a tiny car.

Sorry, but the front end on that BMW is hideous.

Its not my car.

It’s also not as bad as it is in photos, but it’s the front is def not it’s best angle.

Those pictures do make it look worse than it is, but you can’t hide the ugly in person either. Man, the M3 look huge compared to the 997. Like a mini X5.

I too struggled with the Lamin-x installation, specifically properly aligning the film over the headlights. I figured installation would be a breeze but I cannot count how many times I had to peel the film up to realign. And don't get me started on the million and one air bubbles, more reason to peel the film up to minimize them. I thought, for sure, I was going to have to peel these things off after a few days because they looked terrible. But I aligned the best I could, trimmed the film where I needed to, and after a few days they look pretty damn good. All bubbles are gone and alignment issues are not even noticable to me... And that's what counts.

I installed pre-cut Laminx film on both my 997s - headlights and front fog lights without any real issues. I mix up a solution of 50% distilled water and 50% of the 70% alcohol (sol.alcohol content ends up being closer to 35% of the total solution)..you mist that onto your fingers, the light, and the adhesive side of the film, which let's.yiunskife it around easily until you get it how you want it, then squeegee out the solution - no bubbles and good adhesion as the alcohol evaporates away. Did them a number of years ago and both still look good.

I did my tail lights and they turned out great. I just could not get the edges to adhere and it crease. They would either crease and stick or not crease and not stick lol

maybe I’ll try again another day.

Ok, that makes sense. The "before" picture doesn't look that bad to me. What about it bothered you? Kind of looks like mine which I always thought looked just fine. So now I have to take a closer look to see if I'm missing something

mine had some decent rock pits, inside edge was chewed up some how , 2 very distinct lines on the one edge, and was yellowing at the top by the “lined” reflector.
