If anything I am hitting the seat belt retainer bolt in the plate in the center console. I guess I could index the seat on the plate a little closer to the bolt inside. I index the seat as far as I could towards the door but I there is some room between the seat/slider and the bolt for the seat belt on the other side.

That shoulder support in the backrest makes all the difference. The stock "comfort" 997 seats are anything but that (at least for me) because of the way the top of the seat gets narrow and hits right inside my shoulder blades. It's why I put the sport seats in every Porsche I own. Even thought briefly about fitting them into the Cayenne, but those seats are wider top and bottom so don't cause me the same issue as the regular 997 seats. Just did a 9 hour trip from VA in my 928 yesterday with the 997 adaptive seats and feel great today - no pain or soreness at all.

Once you get those covered in the matching color, it's going to look great. How much weight are you saving too - like 40 lbs per seat?

I was thinking about doing elevator bolts, but since there has to be a nut on one side its either going to take up slider side or the console side and the largest size elevator bolt I could find was 3/8's, I want 1/2"- its holding the entire seat belt.

Decided to do a few things to the '06 C2S this weekend since it just turned over 60,000 miles:

1.) Installed a center radiator.
2.) Installed grilles to protect all the radiators/condensers.
3.) Installed new water pump.
4.) Installed new lower-temperature thermostat.
5.) Finished up with a wash and detail.

Got it all done at a relaxed pace and no issues at all during the process.

Cheers,

Those are sweet seats! I was interested in buying a custom set of CS seats from AMX but he never responded to my messages via ebay. Recaro CS seats are the best aftermarket seats IMO, but when I read about the tight fit of the seats in 997s and all the finagling required I was dissuaded from pulling the trigger on a pair. I was also concerned about safety using brackets and sliders that are not factory as well. Probably overly paranoid. Please post pics when your new seats are installed and good luck with the install.

Elevator bolts is what I used. The grade of the bolt is more important than the thickness. Although having both is preferred. I used grade 8, 3/8

Looks like some 1/2 inch here but not sure on grade.

Hey Don, the 997.2 I picked up a couple weeks ago is about to hit the 60K mark too. Haven't checked the radiators for hidden debris yet but plan to get screens for them. Which ones did you choose and why?

They are both important, as strength has area in the units. 1/2" diameter has almost double the area as 3/8" diameter - 0.20 vs 0.11

I got the ones from Radiator Grille Store (www.radiatorgrillstore.com). Since I had the front bumper off to install the center radiator, I mounted the grilles from the inside, which I think looks better. While I had the bumper off, I pulled the air scoops out and did a deep cleaning of the AC condensers and radiators. I was surprised by how much dirt I got out of them. The screens will definitely help to keep the larger bits of debris out.

Cheers,

Did a 968 km, about 9 hr road trip yesterday. In my 997.2 C4S 6-spd with sport seats. Longest I've driven the car in a single day. Must say it was very comfortable as I probably only spent 1 hour total out of the car, if that.

Default Problem with top

a. Removed hardtop hardware from my 996 and installed onto the 997. That requires a certain amount of convertible top actuations that don't complete a cycle. Now that the hardware is installed, the top won't close all the way; the boot cover locks in the UP position. Makes it look like a neat wing, but this will take a visit to the dealer to un-fix what I "fixed".
b. Replaced pads and rotors. Easy enough, but now my dashboard is telling me that a brake pad wear sensor is kaput (they are new) and Also that the e-brake is actuated when it isn't. What to do there? Do I need the dealer to clear codes, or is there any diagnosis for either of these glitches?
c. While wheels removed, noticed rub mark on a radiator hose. I'm not going to touch another thing until my bad luck is behind me....

dang, such a good-looking car, too!!
When I installed the hardtop mounts on my 997, I had the same issue with the soft top not closing. It turned out that that I had routed the window defrost wire incorrectly. It was catching in a moving part. All I had to do was disconnect it and re-rout it. Disconnecting it, was not easy.

Good point, I'll take another look at it, but IIRC, it was pretty much a straight shot down to the plug that is almost impossible to connect to. Matter of fact, I'll remove it from the plug and try the top. I'll never, ever, use defrost where I live.

Good suggestion.

Default Installed NACA duct to cool the PDK HX

Installed the NACA duct aimed right at the PDK Hydraulic side heat Exchanger, to keep it cooler: dropped 15 degrees on track at Road America DE over Labor Day weekend.
