Had a blast with an old Marine buddy yanking out the center muffler on my 997.2 4GTS and replacing it with a Shark Werks crossover exhaust. Took about 2 hours...not counting all the bull**** stories!
Much better sound! And we got to test it out in the north Georgia mountains too...
Night and day difference, huh! It's great with the top down and with PSE on. With it off, it's almost quiet cruising. Best of both worlds.
You guy's are so spoiled with your beautiful twisty mountain roads. Jealous.
Awesome work, and great job putting those old flight suits to good use!
Truth!!
I’ve flown under 200’ and over 500 knots with this character and landed on the ship in the dark of night with him in my backseat.
His laugh is the same as it was 25 years ago and you can still hear it as I come into a corner a bit too hot in my GTS. He’s definitely a better driver then me...but his wings have two anchors!!
Installed @Function-First engine mounts. Air box was a bit annoying removing & putting back but the mounts were easy. All torqued up and ready to try out.
Original mounts on the right.
Replaced engine mounts. Was about to do a transmission insert but realized I didn’t have a female e24 Torx (not an e20 for that matter).
On the engine mounts. I raised the engine a bit. Undid the right side. Went to put the new mount in but the square from the mount wasn’t sitting in the square opening so the mount could spin freely. Raised the engine another inch produced positive engagement. Took under 30 mins even with removing the fabspeed intake.

I did this a few weeks ago and the difference was immediately noticeable. It's a far more pleasant drive now. I love my FF mounts.
Took the day off. Went for a run. Went grocery shopping and decided to go for a drive up and down Santa Cruz mountains.
After driving the car for about an hour, I stopped on the parking lot at the intersection of Rte 9 and Skyline Blvd, got out, opened the passenger door, shoved my hand up in the passenger footwell, found the OEM suspension controller, gently pushed/pulled on the tab as they say... the whole thing came out (unit and mount - what’s that mount attached to anyway??). After fiddling with the plug for a minute, I then started trying to remove the unit from the mount... that took another minute (didn’t even swear somehow), told myself “why are you removing a perfectly functional part?” and did the swap. Plugged the DSC controller, pushed the controller (attached to the mount) up wherever it goes, got back in the driver seat and drove away.
I actually went back on my tracks and pulled a u-turn to come back the same way I had done earlier. After 3 minutes of driving on a kinda rough part of road, I told myself, “I’m definitely taking this out and selling this thing as soon as I get home”. Ended up going west on Rte 9 and started driving the car harder. After about a minute of that, I told myself “this thing is a keeper”.
My take on the DSC controller: don’t buy it if you’re looking for additional comfort, the difference between that and the original set up is barely noticeable. However, if you intend, to drive your car more “vigorously”, the DSC makes a world of difference. Car appears better dampened and much more controlled.
Tried both normal and sport. For around here, the majority of the time, normal mode seems to be the way to go.
thanks for sharing. In my ‘06 S the DSC in normal mode is nice and comfortable yet with good manners when pushing it-much better than OEM. But it’s too soft in sport mode, at least as compared to OEM PSAM on. Wondering if the DSC even goes into sport mode.

Don't overlook the customizable aspect of the DSC controller. Someone who wants a softer and more comfortable ride should absolutely but it, they just need to tweak the g-forces table. The setup that comes pre-installed is a "one siclze fits most" setup, but the fact that you can customize it to make it more sporting or more comfortable or have a different profile setup for each is a game changer.

Tom at TPC actually has a nice progressive G table already programmed in. After stiffening to excess on the Sport table (oversteer at will) to verify that my 136K mile OEM shocks could get too stiff, I went back to Tom's original settings and adjusted just the shock calibration table for less current across the board (less current = stiffer ... Common failure mode is to lose a connection so less current to stiffer results in safer failure mode). That made for a very simple setting that works fine IMHO.
Installing my Fister Exhaust
Wanting a more aggressive sound from my 3.6, I had the Fister exhaust installed by FD Motorsport. Sounds 100% better when on the gas and nearly stock when cruising the freeway. Anyone in the SF Bay Area is welcome to come by and hear for themselves! On a side note anyone have any exhaust tips I can buy?
