What did you do to your 997 today?

This is a very personal thing, IMO. What look do you want? The silver wheels are classic, the black sportier. My black GTS has the black painted, which I did not warm up to for quite some time.

I was just getting ready to type my normal response that black is never better. But, this is weird, on that specific car, the black actually looks good and I never like black wheels. What saves it is the silver ring, that the black center goes well with the black top, and that the car is grey so it's not a whole bunch of black monotone color scheme. The silver is always a safe bet but if you want to mix it up a little, in this specific case I approve of the black too

It may be worthwhile to retake and repost a before / after photo comparison. The latest photo (above) really does not compare with the first photo (rainy day, car wet, etc.) The car in the second photo just looks worse because of the conditions.
Smart idea going with plasti-dip to get an initial impression.
I suspect that your car would look better with the centers painted black. It would look even better if it was lowered a little bit - enough to get rid of some of the gap in the wheel arches.

Go with the black. It looks better because of the convertible top and low black trim pieces. Kind of ties everything together and doing it with the polished rim still gives some shine to with the headlights and side markers.

Or leave the plastic dip and take off when you want back to stock.

Lowered a bit more, black. Current ride height, oem.
The route your going with the lip and the side skirts ( I have the same ones). I know you want it a tad lower anyway.

More maintenance today. Replaced oil pressure sending unit, gauge goes to zero now with the engine off.
Remove the front bumper to clean the rads.. found the left side rad was starting to leak.. ordered more parts. Made up some grilles and installed in the front bumper, put some of the mesh in the centre section (even though I don't have a centre rad). Not sure if I like it but will leave it until the bumper is back on and then decide. Washed the air filter and detailed the engine a bit. Hopefully the new rad will be here tomorrow.
