Drove from STL to Bremen, IN to see how a project is coming along. From there, headed back South to the MOPCA HPDE at IMS to see a friend participating in the event. About a 700 mile day.

Did a steering wheel install and swap. New alcantara wheel went onto the 911.. 911s old sport design wheel went onto the Cayman.

Or get a customized one from DCT or Dallas: http://www.dctms.com/product_ST_PCH_997_987.html

With either one of those you can specify color, combination of leather and alcantera or all alcantera, add a stripe, choose color of stitching and add thickness to the wheel. The list goes on. About the same price as Suncoast or take about 50% off if your current wheel is the same style and you send that back to them once you get the new one.
I've attached a picture of a wheel I had built by Dallas for my current GTS. Combination of alcantera and perforated leather as you can see. Some say alcantera doesn't wear well which is why I put the leather where my hands seem to spend most of their time.

Lots of threads about steering wheels lately. One of the really great mods so it's a good thing. Two ways to go here. Get it from Suncosat for $995 https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/PDKALCPAD.html

BTW, I saw some bumper plugs for a 911 on BaT today

So, they do exist.

Personally I would have a hard time eyeballing the red display with the pointers in red as well. Somethings in analogue display, the contrasting pointers against the background is enough to give a visual representation of the information in hand without even looking at it while the driver is mentally focussed on something else. Red or red would be completely camouflaged visually, especially at night, wouldn't it ?

The gauges were installed by the original owner of the car and I'm not sure who did the actual install or where. What I do know based on testimony from others is that it's not the easiest of DIY's to take that dash apart and then get all the needles and pointers in there just right. And the GTS logo on the tach was a special request. You won't get that unless you ask for it and pay a premium. FVD nailed it though. Looks absolutely factory OEM. Font and all.

Never saw a flat bottom Porsche wheel from Dallas but that doesn't mean he doesn't make them. Check with him. DCT definitely make them.

Really nice. Who built it? Almost identical to a wheel Dallas built for my -09 C4S except mine was the sport wheel. And I agree that the leather on the OEM wheel disappoints. Feels cheap, slick and slippery and for my rather large hands it's too skinny.
