I can't speak to long term as I ended up replacing the cats soon after due to a CEL but I did use a spray bottle with water to neutralize the acid that's in Ospho. Can't remember the name at the moment but I know there is a product that helps protect metals from rusting. It sprays on clear.

Pam's GLA45 has been eating batteries. Once every four to six weeks she heads to the driveway only to have the car not start.

I decided to purchase a battery monitor / isolator for under $100. This device mounts to either post of the battery and the cable that was on that post then mounts to the device. The device has a wire to connect to the other post. Installation is easy and reversible.

The idea is that if the battery drops below 12VDC the device will open. There is a plug in switch that mounts to the windshield. If the device shuts off, press that switch and the battery will connect for one minute. Start the car within that time and the alternator will keep the battery connected.

Unfortunately I could not fit this into Pam's car. So I headed to the 997.

Not sure if I'll like this or not. I'm certainly not endorsing anything since my experience is nil. Just figured I'd put the idea out there.

Interesting. What's the extra threaded post on it for - accessory connection? That looks a bit tall so I think I'd put it on the negative terminal rather than the positive one.

So, it kind of sounds like it does what the Antigravity discharge or reserve protection that's built into their batteries does, but as an add-on option.

That stud is the threaded end of the bolt that holds the plate that exits the device to the battery clamp. You can rotate the plate around to your needs. I bent the tab to clear the tube that runs next to the battery. If you had anything you didn't want to turn off (at the risk of further discharging the battery) you could use that stud. But you would need to supply your own nut.

The unit comes with both positive and negative battery clamps. Use whichever one fits your needs. They included two posts so you screw positive or negative (different sizes) to the device. It's flexible.

You are absolutely right. The new post is raised, but it still fit under the plastic cowl. I used the negative side precisely for the reason you mentioned ... avoid possible shorts to anything. Call me paranoid!!!

I was looking at the price of Antigravity batteries and was thinking to myself they really need a better website. Pam's car has a BMS with smart alternator so battery type change (AGM to lithium) requires registration. I don't have a Mercedes scanner so that becomes a hassle. It would be nice to have this disconnect system internal but I thought this "solution" might be a reasonable, cheaper, easier compromise. But since it wouldn't fit in Pam's car I may still have to go antigravity for her.

Had my daughter ended up a college further away, I was going to put an Antigravity Battery in her car purely for the reserve capacity feature so she's never be stranded if she didn't driver her car for an extended period of time.

That price at almost 3x what my Optima AGM batteries cost when I keep my cars on a Tender all the time and the batteries last 8-12 years is tough for me to invest in personally, but for the use case with my daughter hours away would have justified the cost. As it turns out she's 15.minutes away, which is awesome

Definately let us know how we can impove the website. I have not heard many complaints on the site needing improvement, but please let us know your thoughts for sure. It can only benefit us and we may not be seeing something the visitors of our site not liking.

We fully understand the pricing of Lithium is a put-off for many, rest assured it is not an attempt to inflate the cost of a newer technology, we are actually a substantial amount less costly than most our competitors, for example Porsche is about $2200 for thiers... and Braille's Lithium, is about $1800 dollars for thier 50Ah Lithium that does not have any battery management for safety, or built-in jump wireless jump starting like ours. By comparison our 40Ah Lithium is $950 which is 50% less. So we are actually trying to really make the cost more reasonable. Additionally we have about 4 sales a year with a 15% off the batteries which brings a battery into the $800 dollar range, and while still expensive, thats for a battery that is quite a bit more advanced than anything on the market. But regardless, we understand and are attempting to bring a more basic battery into the market in the future.

I'm a terrible shopper. Years ago, I handed all shopping over to my wife. But car stuff and tools still fall on me. And I freeze when I need to buy anything. So I am the guy who really needs things laid out clearly in front of me, leaving no room for wondering. Yeah, I am a real PITA. Sorry!!!

For me, I work off flow charts to make decisions. Regarding your site, I'd like to enter the model of the car to determine the battery size. That's the entire model. I found this to be lacking. First, input the car with full info (make, year, model, sub model, body, transmission ... Porsche 2010 C4S coupe, PDK). Is a C2 really the same as a GT2RS?

Then, you mention different batteries for different purposes, but when it actually came down to deciding what I should order, I was left wondering what my options really were. Based upon use (commute, weekend spirited, auto cross, track, combo) and details (indoor with tender or ...) which battery do I want?

Asking a few more questions could narrow things down to show me a list of options with pros and cons of each to help me figure out what I should buy.

And then there are the implications, especially with newer cars with BMS and smart alternators. What is involved with registration? For cars designed specifically for AGM batteries, what are the implications of converting to Lithium? Do all cars have registration options for your battery? Or if I install your battery, are the charge algorithms going to damage it? What happens if I don't have a scan tool and don't register the battery to the BMS? Does that screw up the warranty?

No need to justify your price. Costs are costs. You're creating various battery case sizes to fit various cars. You're then packing a higher density battery type in there to save weight and make space for the extra electronics, which must reside outside of the actual battery. Then you've got wiring and sealing to deal with. Then you add in remotes. You aren't offering a standard battery. Enough said

I currently have 2 antigravity battery’s in my 911’s, waiting on the next sale to add a third AND have had them in 3 or 4 of my other cars. Yes they are pricey BUT the peace they bring is worth it :-)
