IMHO opinion, the std stereo is quite accurate. Accurate if you like a natural, flat frequency response rendition, that is.

Bose adds no value to me, quite the opposite. Some, like mdrums with audio expertise, even say that it is technically a worse system. In addition, it adds significant weight and robs shelf space in a coupe, or passenger floor space in a cabrio.

Until recently, I wasn't aware of how good the stock system actualy is. I don't want to get in to BOSE-bashing, but I have two words: flatulent bass.

No doubt the gts is a special car like the 996 40th anniversary but still ...
If you consider the GTS a Sport Classic "Lite" with 150K off, then it might be more appealing.

Ever the optimist, Beowulf -- ever the optimist. I'll have to start chanting that "Sport Classic Lite" mantra to myself, over and over again. Ain't rationalization grand?

Beowulf -- just noticed you're getting Euro delivery on your GTS. Do you have an estimated delivery date, and will you be posting extensively (during and afterwards) to enable us all to live vicariously through you?

And to think I corrected someone on just that point a few days back. Guess I was in a hurry, after upgrading to Member status, to add all the perks...

I responded to your thread on this - the bottom line is "I don't know", but I think it is a mistake right now.

Yes.

No (emphasis above is mine). The margin on my 997.1 was ~$13k, while the margin on the current 997.2 is ~$10k. So you are not going to get $10k off an order, but you might get $10k off an in-stock/on-the-lot car that has trunk/incentive money attached. My dealer offered me a 5.8% discount on a '11 997.2 C2S order before I changed to the GTS.

Someone asked what you save by getting the GTS over ordering the parts separately - this is the closest I could come to a stock vs. stock comparison of coupe models (granted, there is no way to compare the value of the C4 widebody on the GTS, nor the CL RS Spyder wheels, and not all the alcantara bits are on the standard configurator). Savings: $8,765

911 Carrera S $90,500

Powerkit X51 $16,900
Sport Seats P77 $800
Lid of Storage Bin in Alcantara with Model Logo XLG $490
Thicker Steering Wheel in Alcantara CLA $1,295
Gear and Handbrake Lever in Alcantara DAT $1,880

Destination Charge $950

Total Price $112,815

911 GTS $103,100

Destination Charge $950

Total Price $104,050

Don`t forget Sport Design Apron $2990.Wheels can be priced by looking at Turbo pricing. Wider body, side skirts, and rear set up are hard to price. I am probably missing a couple of things.

Seems like, with the wheels and body mods, we're saving around $12K by ordering the GTS package -- is that a pretty good guess?

Delivery will be April/May.
I'll post some scenic pics of the GTS in its native environment.
I also have to coordinate to get some track time at Europe's most
important cultural treasures: Nurburgring, Spa, Magny-Cours and Silvestone.

Sounds like an incredible trip! Just for reference, the Formula One Euro races are:

Turkey (Istanbul) 06 - 08 May
Spain (Catalunya) 20 - 22 May
Monaco (Monte Carlo) 26 - 29 May

What some seem to be forgetting is that the GTS is a wide body car with a wider rear track and rear wheel drive....it's more than just more power.

I can't wait to see one.
