PCM 3.0 Integrated Wireless CarPlay/ Android Auto

Anyone have mis-aligned backup camera guidelines? Mine are far narrower than the actual width of the car in reverse. I've looked through the menus and can't find a way to adjust this but surely there must be!

I think this is due to the low gain on the AUX in. Apparently later models have an adjustment for the AUX but my 2010 does not have it. Hadn't looked into seeing if there's an update that can be applied or some other hack. At highway speed with my exhaust it's definitely not easy to listen to music at even moderately loud levels. I mostly listen to spoken content so I haven't been super worried about it.

An article said in 2022. Nothing more specific.
One nice feature I found is that my reverse camera still came on even when not in apple CarPlay. Was listening to a cd. Then was surprised the back up cam came on. I guess I assumed it would require you to be in the CarPlay screen and not the pcm screen.

I believe it's to do with the AUX input level, not the output of the device. I had pretty weak volume over a 1/8" stereo cable from my iPhone too, prior to installing the CarPlay stuff which just uses the AUX input.

You can adjust the Aux input gain so that it matches the radio, CD volume within the PCM3.0 unit. I have a 997.2 from 2011. You can also adjust the output volumes for different things e.g. music, Siri on the NM Automotive menus.

Nick (NM Automotive) pointed out that certain PCM versions lack this control and mine (2010) is one of them. The button is literally not present on the PCM screen. I've played with the NM configs and I think I have everything as high as possible. Unclear if the AUX config yours possesses is able to be flashed on my version...

My volume is now matched to the PCM volume by adjusting the Aux volume on the PCM (to max) and further settings on the CarPlay box. Mine is also a 2010 car, I am running the last (version) PCM software, not sure if that has anything to do with it. By default the sound quality has also improved as my music is from a digital source Tidal / TuneIn.
Splashscreen was a Google image download and my installer swapped the NM splashscreen.
