@Beebman, did. You lay any additional cables on the wiring harness? Or did you just connect the AV camera and turn on the reverse gear and then you got the Output on the Screen?

his car is a tiptronic from the image.

He just plugged a fakra to rca adapter and then plugged an ab connector into that - and put the car into reverse. That’s it

to do a test, u just insert it in the hole - but for a permanent solution you will need the proper wire tool - or soldier it in directly.

Im considering releasing a harness + cable kit + camera kit - which will include whats necessary to get a clean non-shared GND connection for the camera itself - minimizing (almost all) splicing.

So that I don't have to do all the things you described above with PIN 6 PIN 8 and additional cable etc. with a Tipptronic. Right?

pin 6 no - but pin 8 yes yes of course you do. Or you can choose to power the cam using the other methods mentioned in this thread. Don't forget you will still need to GND the camera as well.

Please understand that beebman's post is a videoCamcorder device having it's own power source - it was merely a fakra/rca input test only (not requiring camPower or camGND).

Which camera are you thinking of using?

Thank you very much for this statement. That was important to me. Of course, I am aware that the reverse camera needs its own power connection and GND. Here I wil use my reverse light.
It was only important to me to understand that I don't need all this wiring **** on my harness with my car with Tipptronic.

Just wanted to say thanks to @myw , @svandamme & everyone else who helped with this process so far. I put mine in last night and had a great drive to work this morning! This thread and the diy writeup were helpful. I didn't add a backup camera yet, but will eventually go back in there and do it. Anyway...highly recommend it to anyone on the fence about getting the pccn+ and Guadin in Vegas still has them avaiable.

Does anybody know through which pins to power the PCCM Plus? I want to test it outside the car by using the trickle charger in 12V supply mode. Thinking of testing the backup camera through this setup.

@svandamme I have looked at it but have failed to identify which are the pins for power to the unit.
Is it 22? I am not quite sure. Obviously I asked in case someone has tried it and knows the answer.

definately not 22. That’s for the fiber optic unit - 500ma which is way too low to power the pccm.

I would suggest looking for the thickest red or yellow wires on the main harness to start

The smallest (from what I recall) reverse cam I could find. I have run the prev 480p and now AHD version of this camera.

Very discrete and is drilled into the center of the bumper using a 20mm included cutting tool. It’s hard to see.

here is the first gen license plate bulb type of camera - I removed it shortly after the install. I didn’t mind that it’s off to the side (and didn’t really notice the rear image being off to the side) but it was just so visually clunky on beautiful rear end.

the tiptronic are easy re the reverse cam. The pccm+ was done in mind to keep the tiptronic 955 reverse cam fully functional as is.
