This sounds like unfounded gossip but we’ll see I guess.

I'm sorry, don't take it the wrong way, but compared to you, I know his reputation, very well known in Europe
He is a reference person for many technical problems, he has close contact with Porsche and their technical department, he never speaks, I say never, without it being proven

He has already repaired a problem that Porsche could not find, so no, this is really not a discussion of counter, but an information ;=)

I say this with respect

Without an official press release from Porsche or notification from a reputable shop like Suncoast Parts that they have them in stock, we're all just speculating. Seeing an image of the actual physical unit is promising. However, it's anyones guess if we're weeks, months, or longer away from being able to purchase one.

The more I think about it… it’s actually a real shame that there’s a USB port and another port on the front of this 997 unit, ruins the clean lines and timelessness. I hope the delay means Porsche is improving the unit, it may be wishful thinking though

The 996 PCCM plus doesn’t have these ports. Looks cleaner:

Pretty sure I’ve seen 996 PCCM+ with an additional box/dongle type thing under the screen somewhere. Not an attractive feature either.

Yes, totally correct. I would hope with the 996 style extra plug box, we’d be able to get a longer cable and run that box into the rear center console or glove box…

I was/am hoping for back up cam support and wireless CarPlay, both of which have pretty much been proven NOT to be the case based on everything we “know” so far. There’s going to have to be something pretty compelling to get my brokers without those options. Just because it has the word “Classic” in the name doesn’t mean we shouldn’t enjoy features that are so commonplace nowadays.

I believe it is only for the .1 at this time. The .2's PCM is a giant leap forward not only in appearance, but also functionality. If you want modern functionality on a .2 PCM, your best bet is to buy a solution from companies like Joyeauto where you replace the innards of your PCM to give you CarPlay, etc. while maintaining the factory unit. That's the route I would take if I had a 997.2 or 991.1.
