yes key1 is to splice a remote steering wheel module - this is for those who don’t have a MF wheel like on my brothers car

make sure to go into the secret menu and select SWCkey and not CANkey (canBus key set) - the amount of functionality on my brothers aftermarket steering wheel module is amazing

anyone know if we can add remote buttons to this head unit? We’d need to have a wire called ‘key 1’. Perhaps on the Canbus bundle?

If the buttons don’t work AT all(plus the illumination issue) then

- either the harness that connects the buttons to the mother board is loose
- there is a hardware problem somewhere
- perhaps there is a software setting in the secret menu or a button map app (I wouldnt know what to do here as I have zero experience with this unit)

Thanks for the information about the steering wheel remote. Found a wiring diagram. It’s wire #4

By the way, wire #3 is the reverse trigger wire.

I’ll try adding this controller to the aftermarket cup holder in the ashtray.

@myw do you know what seller this is through? It looks like all of the prior links in this thread are dead and I want to be sure I am chasing the latest and newest version of this device.

owTowsin is the vendor

if you wait just a bit, the 2nd generation android deck with ***** + buttons - should be out in a month or 2.

it will look the most oem of all the aftermarket decks, and be the first with the sd slot. but the font + design / should blend right in seamlessly.

So, it appears that the two steering wheel wires are missing from the harness on my Android unit. Wires #4 WC1 and #11 WC2 are not on the harness.

strange.

this is because some vendors dont add those 2 cables in, unless u buy a remote bluetooth adapter from them. and even then , some may forget.

I’ll just buy an additional harness with these two wires and either swap the harnesses or just add the wires to the existing one.

Amazon sells them for $8.

Bought the harness and removed the two wires with pins. Attached this to my original harness in the missing slots. Wired up the control module and everything worked perfectly.

Do you have this unit or did you pull the image from the internet? Where can we get more information about the unit?
