Those look very much like gen1 x51 headers. I have seen them and planned to get them for my Gen 2 4S. Have You compared the sound with an x51 gen1? Would be REALLY interesting to hear. My 4s gen 1 x51 is unbeaten yet with its sound. (The GT3 not taken into account.) Looks really good!!
Gen 1 997 X51 headers don't look anything like the Top Gear items :
Whilst the X51 items are no doubt an improvement over the stock Gen 1 997 S headers, they're not a patch on a decent equal length (ish) header with a well designed and fabricated merge collector.
Thanks for posting. Your thread is great!
I'm interested in this quote: Can you elaborate? I did not want to throw CEL codes for cat efficiency so I ordered a custom tune from Evoms, this also helped to extract some power and take full advantage of the exhaust mods that have been done.
I have center muffler delete and can throw efficiency codes (not warmed up enough). 997.2 C4S
Center muffler delete does not effect catalytic converter efficiency, but high flow cats or non at all definitely will
The tune I got does not throw codes for secondary O2 sensors and cat efficiency.
I have not compared the sound to the 997.1 X51 but a friend does have a 997.2 X51 w/PSE and sharkwerks bypass. I can tell you that the exhaust is now loud and the car sounds very raw, the video below will give you an idea but doesn't really do the it justice. At low rpm the car has almost an air cooled type rasp and in the upper rpm range it howls.
preelude, your car is an inspiration! I just picked up a C2S in the same colour and yours looks so much better without all that wheel gap. Have you ever considered a front lift kit to help with scraping?
I finally had the time to paint my calipers yellow, the next step will be changing the seat belts to match. I also ordered a Function First Performance weighted black machined shift **** with yellow gear pattern to tie into the subtle yellow theme, as well as a short throw shifter. I will post an update when everything arrives, onto the photos:
Great build! I have the same color coming. I can't wait to get started on it. I know this is an old post but what paint did you use? How did you strip off the old paint? Did you remove the line and fluids? Thanks!
Hi, love the car. Wanted to see after you've had the setup for as long as you've had, at your current ride height do you have rubbing issues? Would you change the offset/sizing at all or do you still consider this to be the right setup for the narrow body?

Thank you, I have not considered it. I do not daily the car and seem to be doing ok with the type of driving that I do.

Thanks, I used VHT caliper paint. I did not disconnect the lines, just cleaned and sanded/wire brushed the calipers very well.

Thank you, I am happy with the ride height. I had rubbing over big bumps in the rear with Pirelli P-Zero tires (295/30ZR19), I do not rub anymore with the Falken FK510 (Also 295/30ZR19). The Michelin PS4S has even more stretch in that size and it may be my next tire.
