Can someone point me to the correct wire to tap into the pcm power source? Currently I'm tapped into the power port on the passenger side and am worried about drain on the battery.
I have a 2006 PCM 2.1 with Nav and no CD.
I tapped the power from the passenger footwell location. Some people have reported issues and use one for the headunit. Never gave me an issue I could attribute to the power source over 2 years.
What a thread! Read, read and re-read. Soooo, LA Power or Mr 12volt is still the way to go if you want to keep stock PCM?
I have pcm 2.1 with nav and single cd. Most system installed but doesn’t seem to work. Hoping on so feed back before I pull the trigger.
I just went to Amazon to buy one. There are currently NONE available. Does anyone have a secondary source? I just ordered HVAC switches and this would be the perfect time to install the Bluetooth.

Anyone compare this to the newest Dension unit? Forgetting about price, how do they compare?
I've had both the Dension 500SBT and the LAPower unit. They are virtually identical in looks, installation, and operation. The Dension offers more inputs through the auxiliary harness and has the possibility of keeping the CDC, but in years of Dension ownership, I never used either feature. In practice, I tended to use only the BT and the USB. There is a slight difference in the options/UI between the models, and again, the Dension appears to have more features/settings, but in practice they are differences without a material distinction.
The decision, IMO, boils down to cost as most every other comparison is a virtual tie. In that regard the LAPower unit is clear winner as you can buy 3 of them for the cost of Dension.
I am late to the party, but wish i had switched earlier. For the last few years I used an auxilary jack through fm connector in combo with bluetooth adapter.Same maker as Tranzitblu. I guess i didn't know what i was missing! Worked fine , but now that i added Mr12v with fiber optic connection... wow! so excited to see a whole new side to my PCM. I was against upgrading stereo because I enjoy the oem look so much. As many of you already know that have done this... this so cool to see the display changes on pcm and interaction with phone calls.
So I purchased 2. one for my 997 with Cd changer in frunk and the second for my 987 without cd changer.
For my 997 C4S my frunk is already smaller due to awd. so decided to remove cd changer completely. eliminate some weight and gain some trunk space. I used the cd changer fiber optic and power supply. plug and play!!. The creative part was running the mic chord through fire wall. It was actually easy once i figured out a solution.
I mounted mr12v underneath my dvd nav unit in frunk. basically inside same box as nav. then ran an extended mic/speaker cable 6ft through some of the plastic covering in frunk and into the Pollen/charcoal filter box. from inside passengar footwell you can pull back the soft styrofoam cover underneath glove box. look behind glove box and you will see the underside of pollen filter housing. if you push on it you will realize that it is made of flexible carboard like materal that attaches to plastic housing. no cutting or drilling. just push up into pollen housing a bit. Snake a wire in there and from the top of the frunk side attach wire and pull through. then add a speaker cable connector so that you can plug mic into extended end of speaker cable. Mounted mic on steering wheel housing. Works awesome.
For the Cayman PCM without cd changer it was actually easy too. remove stereo. I tapped into pcm power. thicker red green wire for power and thicker brown wire for ground. Once optic and power were hooked up my pcm automatically recognized the mr12v and cd changer was activated.
so excited. my only issue is when music is paused i do hear a noticable voltage whine with rpm increase. i bought a "in line noise filter 5 amp" for $8. plugs in between power source and radio to eliminate whine. wondering if this will help with mr12v.
Thanks guys for all useful info!! if any one else has solved the engine voltage whine another way ...let ke know!!!
