That does suck but the purchasers may be too accepting. The last 2 PCA meets I went to it was more people talking about their CPO details than actual car talk. And no one stands near their cars. Odd. I got some strange looks when I said I did the front diff and tranny fluid myself.
Same hear in Vancouver; last event I went to I took the 996 and when I started talking about what was done to it, they looked at me like I was out of my mind, which I am somewhat, but that really isn't the point.
Last time I took the Teal Deal to Cars and Coffee at Spanish Banks, I liked talking about the car, but I agree that a lot of people don't...it was very odd.
car enthusiasts are becoming a rarer breed... as the newer generation looks to cars as more utilitarian, it's very difficult to find any of the younger kids now interested in cars like it used to be in high school for me... i remember in study hall i used to have monthly car magazines i used to share with my friends...
I don’t think it’s sad at all, what is the purpose of respecting one elders when you’ve evolved so far past them?
Silicon Valley and other tech hubs are paying $1 million annual salary to top software engineers. There’s not much wisdom an elder can pass on to someone who’s got the skills to secure a job like that. They’re going to have to figure it out for themselves.

Most Gen Z kids don't have money and are being raised in single parent households. Dad isnt in the picture and if he is, he's a limp wristed soyboy (alot of Gen X men are degenerates..)
Most of my gearhead friends had fathers who taught them how to work on cars. Can't be into cars if mommy chased daddy away lol
An odd direction for this thread to go... To contribute I put in a 997 gt3 shift box in my tts. waiting on the center console to come back from the upholstery shop to button it all back up.
Can confirm its the Porsche strategy making everything around their vehicles insane expensive and complicated, that almost noone has the idea doing some works themselves.
The modern cars are electronically completely locked down. Nothing really possible without a direct connection to the central Porsche Computer.
By this people get afraid and purchase Porsche Approved Plan for additional 4 digit yearly contribution. They know how to squeeze the max money out of their customes nowadays.
Here in my local town there's a company which has all Volkswagen Brands under its Umbrella (VW, Skoda, Seat, Audi and Porsche)
If you start working for the company as a mechanic, you get a standard labour contract and they send you to the garage of their choice.
As a customer, you wil pay around 75€ for a hour of work at Skoda and Seat, maybe 120€ at VW, 150€ at Audi and 250€ / h at Porsche .... for the same mechanic!!
Just ordered a water cooler for the GT3 which became incontinent .... Porsche Price is around 750€ .... I paid 94€ for an OEM and this already included shipping.
Taking the front Bumper off isn't too complicated, and cleaning the air intakes should be a yearly service task anyway
