I just use a standard open nut. Looks fine to me. I did hit them with a light coat of black paint though.

I agree, unless you are frequently changing wheel I don't see a need for studs.

96 is an old carryover from when Porsche used aluminum nuts used on low power air-cooled cars dating back to the 70s. . Porsche has since changed the value to 118 across all the lines. I personally found 96 wholly inadequate as the lug nuts would have a tendency to slowly work loose after each track session necessitating a retorque. That simply is not the case with 118. 118 is simply nothing for a SS 14x1.5 stud / lug bolt. With 96, many guys experienced stud failure due to the fact than once the nut loses the required tension, it is allowed to minutely flex back and forth with wheel loads which leads to metal fatigue and eventual failure. Probably not much of an issue for street driven cars using lug bolts, but for studs it absolutely is.

With that said, keep in mind that the old 96 figure was based on the OEM lug bolt bearing being greased as per the maintenance manual. Nobody does this. When installed dry, you will need a higher torque value to equal the "greased value" and 20% is generally the accepted number. You can not grease lug nuts as they don not have a bearing surface, hence the 118 value.

118 is the proven value. I'd stick with it.

Studs are great if you track the car and are changing wheels a lot. If you're not changing wheels a bunch, I'm not sure you'll really see the benefit of switching. Porsche changed the recommendation to 118ft lbs awhile back...

i work on my own cars and frequently take off wheels for washing purposes. the lugbolts are annoying to me.

im getting spacers eventually!

I just put mine away for winter as well. Should only be 2.5 months though as November has been so nice.

Those are exactly what I run... Sorry I don't have a detailed pic of the wheels/studs/bolts, and the bolts kind of disappear once on the car, but this might give you some idea...

I probably would have, had I known it was available. All the second hand ones I have seen are too expensive once you add shipping costs. You should make a list of everything you have that you are willing to let go and post it. I imagine you don’t want to because selling a lot of things is annoying and frustrating.

Don't you have to weld in mounting plates for the main hoop legs for the Club Sport bar? Out of all of the bolt in "rollbars" the BBi one looks the best to me, especially if you have the Bose system and want to keep the subwoofer

Yeah, I like the BBi one the best, but it was $1k more than the Titan one. The Titan one looks to be a very similar version and also works with the subwoofer.
