What did you do to your 996TT today?
it's run hard and low miles, but very dirty from all the oil is chugged in- see the burnt piston/exposed rings... bad intercoolers and a meth system is to blame
if it's the price of cylinder liners and pistons

Found a little puddle of oil under my car.
I changed the oil in November when I put it away. There was oil in the oil filter catch basin and I grabbed my turkey baster to suck it up. Stupid me squeezed the baster and blew oil everywhere. I guess it took 4 months to get to the bottom. My engine was detailed and perfectly clean before this bonehead move!

Swapping out a muffler is fairly straight forward by my estimation - 14 nuts, 4 o2 sensors and a pair of straps - hardest thing would be to remove the bumper cover without causing any damage; anything I should watch out for?
yup straightforward job generally... hardest part of bumper removal is unclipping the harness if doing it all by yourself.
turbo studs/nuts can either be really nice or reallyyy nasty. Have a torch ready for the o2 sensors, heat the bung if the sensors are not easy to turn after breaking free...don't mix up the primary and secondary (people have done that and been surprised how it runs...)
Unbolt off the turbo first then loosen the straps

Thank you Sir, I have a buddy who's going to give me a hand - plan is to remove the lights, then cover, assemble the Kline, un clip the o2s, remove the ti one in one piece, swap the o2s over, then lift the Kline into place.
Interestingly, the Inconel is lighter than the Ti unit. Only attempting this because a little old lady drove into the back of thw car last month and the cover needs a repaint.

sounds good, but if it were me, I'd install the test pipes on the turbos first, loosely strap the muffler section onto the engine carrier to hang/support it, tighten the muffler to test pipes then tighten the muffler support clamps...should help a leak free install

Ok, that does sound better, hope the studs on the turbos don't give me a hard time...
Cheers,
Cheers,
is going onto old turbos, consider replacing the studs 900 081 059 01 , and go for copper nuts

It's only going to be a short time, still deciding if I want to drop the engine this year to install the 980s, but I really want to hear the Kline....
Most, a season.

I've done exhausts on my cars a few times. Getting at the nuts on the turbos can be a pita. Removing the intercoolers will give you WAY more space to get at those nuts and they're really easy to remove.

Interesting... I figured an extension would do the trick once the cover was off...
Honestly, I cannot quite remember how it looks from the last time it was off.

Hmmmmm, this list of things to damage is growing...

I've done it without removing the intercoolers using 1/4 drive wobble extensions. My europipe exhaust also came with a variety of half moon shaped wrenches to get at those nuts. In the end, removing the intercoolers is just easier.

Ok, how long did it take you?
