When I got home, I decided to dig in to the rear spoiler... As common as the problems with them are, I've never personally had to deal with it before. The spoiler extends and retracts manually and at speed, but always trips a dash error. Lifts evenly and smoothly, but it looked like it was not extending fully, confirmed once I had it all out.

No obvious leaks, though there was quite a bit of grime on everything. Now that its clean, it will be easier to spot any minor weeps. I did notice that when I apply voltage to extend the rams, there is a ~4 second delay after I hear the motor turning before the rams start to move. My guess is that there is enough air in the system that the first part of the piston travel is compressing the air, which is what also is causing it not to extend fully.

I'll crack open the hydraulics, make sure the system is full and try and completely bleed it, hopefully that will get it extending fully and without issues.

Funny (peculiar not haha), I have the same exact symptoms for my spoiler. Works fine, just get the dash light every time it extends at speed. I figure it is just the sensor.

Could be a bad microswitch or wiring issue. Its the gray wire.

My spoiler was raising only one side, plus the dash warning. Removed system from car, cleaned, new copper washers, and a proper re-fill and it has worked perfectly ever since. This was my "test rig". Submerge the hose ends in a cup of Pentosin and run the pump in and out to remove all traces of air. Re-attach hose ends to lift cylinders and test. Worked first time. I let them sit extended for 5 hours, no movement. Yours are off car, now is the perfect time for this.

That is pretty close to the technique I planned on trying... Did you do anything to purge force purge air from the lift cylinders themselves?

Also, seems to be split opinion on using Pentosin (Porsche's favorite corrosive hydraulic fluid) and just regular Prestone PS fluid with some stop leak... I honestly wonder if Porsche spec'ed pentosin for the rams only because thats what they already use for their PS fluid, rather than any specific need for whatever properties pentosin might have?

Getting pretty deep. I had a small drip of oil everytime I parked this thing and was hoping it was something simple. When I got in I noticed most of the oil was sitting on top of the motor near the oil cooler and associated bracket. I have new orings for the oil cooler but there was no gasket for this in PET, am I just using a regular gasket sealant on this??
appreciate the help

The cylinders......it's been over a year, but if I remember I simply topped them off (they don't hold much) and kept them in an upright position until the hoses were re-connected. No special procedure (or skills), just take your time. BTW, super magnets harvested from hard drives were used to hold the cup & hose ends to the metal parts washer, like having an assistant.

That's right, no gasket. Both of mine were leaking there as well. I used Reinzosil on one and Dreibond on the other. Do watch to see that the surfaces are even - one of mine had the case half surface ever so slightly lower than the other and needed a little thicker bead of sealant. After I used a mirror to look underneath to ensure that the sealant filled all the gaps.
