Made it super jealous by sparking up the fastest machine in the stable.... and getting it ready for some summer fun!
Losing all the weight has made it possible, poor oil prices and crap work over the last year mean that the Turbo upgrade will have to wait until the industry improves. Stoopid COVID.

It is deeply emotional...
When I started it up yesterday, it coughed and sputtered a bit until is settled into a nice purring state, telling me it was happy I was giving it some attention....

No....
Therapy is best suited for those with deep emotional issues that make their lives difficult to manage.
I am, however, pretty sure that if I had children, we would be having a very different discussion....

One of the maybe dumbest things I've read today. Therapy is good for all who may need it. Those with anxiety, those depressed, those with addictions, those suffering grief, etc. Even self-therapy, which I'm sure most have done throughout their lives at one point or another, whether simple breathing techniques, or meditation. Hell, even the cars we enjoy in this hobby can be therapeutic. Or someone sitting in the garage just starting their cars, for the warm feelings it induces (like you just stated).
I went to school for, and studied to become a behavioural psychologist; I never practiced professionally, came out of school and went into oil and gas, and never looked back.
You are confusing psychological issues with behavioural ones - depression is a chemical imbalance in ones brain that is best addressed by drugs; counselling cannot help by itself in these conditions, because counselling does nothing to address the chemical imbalance. Likewise with anxiety - if one is anxious about something, and it overwhelms them, a combination of drugs (to bring calm) and counselling may in fact be productive for that person.
Addictions are an entirely different beast - primarily behaviour based initially, then turning to physical needs later. Counselling, again, will only aid in the understanding of why the subject makes certain decisions which lead to usage, drugs, alcohol, gambling - whatever. If the subject can never understand the reason why they made that choice in the first place, no amount of counselling will help them, because all they see is the consequence of use.
As human beings, we require (need) only four things to 'live' - food, water, sleep and going to the bathroom - these are our needs to sustain life. Understanding that on the most basic of levels means that everything else is a 'want' - drugs, alcohol, money, prestige, etc. None of these 'wants' are 'needed' to sustain life - the power of choice is lost on so many people either because they are blinded by their own fears, they've settled, they don't understand that all behaviours are 'learned' and that means, all negative behaviours can be 'unlearned'.
The reason I didn't go into practice was primarily due to my work with federal inmates; there are two different types of prisoner. The first is the one who is abused as a child, beaten, neglected, basically lost before they get started, no future, no hope them. Of course, this person 'learns' that this is the way life goes - violence, robbery, murder - the deck is most certainly stacked against them, yet, if you can reach them and show them how to unlearn all these negative things the formed their basic understanding of life, they can be saved.
The second type of prisoner is a sex offender, pedophile, rapist, etc.
There is no hope for these people because they suffer a physiological imbalance in their brains that tells them it is ok (for example) for a 65 your old man to have a sexual relationship with a 5 year old child. When I was around these types of people, it made me sick, they are degenerates, trash - unable to ever reconcile their crimes, able to justify everything they do with no remorse for those they have hurt.- I could not deal with it; I would never be able to assist anyone like that, and in fact, would go out of my way to sink them, in any way I could. There is no hope for predators like this, they are a waste of skin, period.
I recognized this in myself as a 'choice' and because I knew I could not make a choice that would be neutral, so, I made the choice to walk away from it.
So, I think it is fair to say, we may have differing opinions on 'therapy', and really how relevant it is.
