From there I can precisely control the engagement as required for the conditions using the precision of dorsiflexion. For me this is a very precise and repeatable move.
I have to agree with you. I just bought an 01tt and the OEM clutch is interesting. I just came from a brand new clutch so the feeling is obviously completely different. The car has 60k miles so I wouldn't imagine the clutch has been done yet. It feels good and like it engages right, but figuring out first gear is def tricky. I killed it trying to start in second last night. *facepalm* it killed me inside haha.

I've driven several GT3's and a 996 Turbo with GT2 clutch setup. I don't like them. Period. They're WAY too heavy of a pedal feel and no, I don't miss leg day at the gym. I much prefer the stock clutch feel and will never change it over to a GT whatever. Everyone seems to think that just because it's more of a race car part, or it was used on a GT car, it must be a better part. Not necessarily and I can't say that my stock setup feels vague or disconnected or whatever. I have no issues driving it smoothly on the street, track or auto-x.

Paul, thanks for posting that, I do have spare fuses in my tool box, I'll pop one in tomorrow afternoon.

Family; jeez.

Hard to fire.

I let my old man drive my Sti once - once. It was an entirely cringe-worthy experience.

I currently have a setup that is "in between" the GT2 clutch and the normal OEM setup. I removed the pedal assist unit in the footwell and replaced the fairly heavy spring in it with a spring that is just strong enough to return the pedal to the top when released. It's a pretty popular mod with the Carrera crowd and it helps a lot with clutch feel.

No, all the stock hydraulics are still present, this just increases the pedal effort a little bit and removes that odd point in the pedal travel where the assist from the spring "dips".

And that 'point' was terrible; I hated it - couldn't feel it properly and it felt like the clutch was being slipped.

Interesting mod.

Bypassed the clutch switch yesterday. Now I just gotta retrain myself to not put in the clutch before starting the car.

And not leave it in gear when you turn it off...

Can you guys help me with the clutch thing? Maybe another thread is more appropriate, but apparently I have the hydraulic assist clutch and my 996 turbo buddy said that's bad news, or potentially could be. Can you guys confirm or deny it?

Awesome. Is there any sign to this going? or did you just do it as preventative?
