Did a just about 2000km turn around in the 991TTs in 36 hours, and I have to say that even with its new-ness and its overall blinding speed, I found myself longing for the manual of the 996.
As governance and elevated laws for speeding, including impound, multi thousand dollar tickets and the fact that in BC you cannot run more than 40k over the limit before the fun comes to an abrupt stop, it is becoming harder and harder to really enjoy the drive, as one may have done in the past. And Alberta is not far behind with 50k being the go to jail number. It is changing the way I drive - it is no longer about all out speed, it is about being as efficient as possible within the set parameters without getting caught. It is because of these open road restrictions, I yearn for the manual, no matter how cool the TTs is. Incidentally, this is the first time since new in 2018 that I have taken it out for a road trip and it has the same annoying problem (for me at least...) with my right calf resting squarely on the center console and being supremely uncomfortable.
I've been driving the #5 regularly since 1998, hundreds of times - with all manner of equipment, but when its Porsche time, its the best, manual or no.

Despite folks reporting the PDK seems almost 'intuitive'... I can assure you, it is not. In fact, in full auto mode it was surprisingly easy to trick it - especially going down hill and setting up for a pass - it made the wrong choice more than once.
At the end of the day, in normal mode, it is exceptionally smooth, but the moment you go to Sport or Sport + it has the same chunkiness that the M5 does. I still kick myself for not ordering the manual in the M5.

I picked up new shoes for Miss Sally today. Great deal on 8.5x18 and 11x18 HREs. I plan on keeping the centers black since it is powder and paint the barrels and matte black. It should be a good winter project.

I'm a sucker for split five spokes with lip. These came off of a GT3 and got them for $1,000. Win, win. I need to weigh them but very, very light.

No, he is not using the Motec for ECU control, yet - he is using it for data acquisition but still running the stock ECU, which is impressive, but also limits the motor to 72 - 7500 rpm if memory serves. He mentioned in a previous post that they are looking to go over to full Motec control soon, and I think he said that a new intake would go on at the same time to address the restriction (read power dip) that these motors have at the higher end of the rpm scale.
We use Motec dash for full continuous data logging and have a host external sensors with a lot of safeties built in. With that said, under load the engine runs 11.5-12.0 AFR at 1.35 bar on 91 pump. Our compression ratio is lower at 9.0:1 compared to 9.4:1 on a stock TT engine. We have a Motec ECU which will be installed in the offseason and allow us to install 997Cup heads, intake, and 997.1GT3 variocam. Redline will be 8700 vs. the current 7500.

We have rectified the dip in the power band via the IPD intake plenum and tuning. The IDP plenum resulted in a loss of midrange hp/tq and a gain in high rpm hp/tq thus flattening the power band and eliminating the dip for the most part. You can see that below. You are correct, ECU is stock with MAFless tuning by Sam.

That is awesome - I see you are now up to 772WHP, which is equally impressive. What are your expectations (power wise) by going up to 8700RPM?
