I thought the cats were integrated into the exhaust (read: welded to), so how does that work?

They are on the oem.
you get a test pipe that bolts onto the turbos with 2 o2 bungs for sensors and those test pipes have a system that you can attach an exhaust or the pipe is welded onto the test pipe.

So, you have to butcher the stocker to make it work?

I see.

No, those replace the stock system and have no cats.

Years ago I rode in a 996 Turbo that had straight pipes (it was owned by a Rennlister who lived in Florida) and I couldn't believe how loud it was. I'd never be able to mentally put up with the noise, and the dB would have a long term negative impact on my hearing.

That I don't know. But if so it would be another reason why I wouldn't have straight pipes.

Typically, with short straight pipes, unspent fuel on deceleration ignites and crackles...

I have a car with long straight pipes and it does that; it also melted the rear valance because it got so hot back there. I wouldn't do it again.

Yesterday I learned two things:
1) My car is slower than a Lamborghini Avantador
2) My car is faster than an Audi R8 V10

So that was fun.

Also, "Power is Power."

Capt, what were the conditions - highway pulls?

I have had some crazy pulls against some kids "wanting to go" and just obliterated them. I felt kind of bad. But again, I have a tune, but what tune, God only knows.
