Welp, since I ordered and received (but haven't installed) my new starter, it has acted up exactly 0 times. So instead of putting the car up on stands, I took it out for another drive today. Retrieved on of my old watches that needed a quick service.
Combined age of thirty-eight years and still looking good!
Well, I learned how to use the compressor and changed the right rear tire. Unfortunately, I just had a new set put on, maybe 1200 miles are on the 4? What was really bad was the spare did not go on and after studying it I realized the spacers were preventing them from mounting. However, the the bolts were on so tight I had to call a mechanic buddy to bring an impact, which made quick work of it. I am a bigger guy and can put some torque on bolts, but was only able to get 1 to budge and I feared the light steel lug nut wrench would break if I got behind it too much.
I ordered the tires from tirerack and need to file a claim. How do you deflate the spare? Once I get the replacement it will need to go back in the frunk. I am now left with decision to 1) get a breaker bar and keep in the frunk or 2) get some OEM twists to remove the spacers.
Porsche recommends lube for the lug bolts / nuts. Expensive, but I bought a tube anyway at the local dealer......can't remember the name but around $50 if I remember. Should last my lifetime.... Those look like factory spacers (like mine, Sport Techno wheels required them, rear only). If so, shouldn't be a problem to remove if properly lubed per the manual.
