What did you do to your 996TT today?

I updated my F-tube and diverter valves. While the install was easy and quite straightforward, ...I do have a few steps to share: First: Be sure to clear all mouse nests...
Second: If you are going to be replacing the 15+ year old rubber and plastic parts, then you might as well replace them all...
The lines to the diverter valve were so brittle they just fell apart with handling.
The "y" hose that captures the diverted air was quite heat checked. Although it is not pressurized, it still could cause quite an vacuum leak if it let loose.
The replacement hose and the updated diverter valves were cheap preventative maintenance upgrades that installed in less than a half hour. Still, if you are going to dig into the hoses this far, I'd recommend pre-purchasing the remainder of the "hard to get at" vacuum lines/plastic check valves, etc.; replacing as many as you can while you are in there.

Burning Brakes
Picked it up -- yesterday -- after 13 weeks in the shop.
1. Failed Turbo seal
2. Oil leak from head
3. Failing coolant fittings
4. Failed crank position sensor
5. Failed rubber oil line
The tech worked through all these issues in and around vacation time and both a birth and a death in the family, so it took a long time -- not to mention a total of over 3 weeks for rebuilding the turbos + shipping back and forth to Michigan. And of course, did all the *while you're in there* stuff like plugs & coilpacks... EDIT Just to be clear, I got the car back briefly between component failures, so it wasn't a 13-week continuous stay at the shop...
BIG hit to the bank account! Nevertheless, TRE did a good job of managing the process and the car runs better than ever, with billet impellers and a minor vacuum leak eliminated in the process.
But she's back.

My Apex wheels have arrived! Still need to source tires, modify wheel well liners, install along with Bilsteins, etc.
They look awesome!
Apex SM-10 in Anthracite
Front: 18x9.0" ET46, ~20.0 lbs
Rear: 18x12.0" ET45, ~23.7 lbs
(for those paying attention, that's actually a front wheel, even though shown by the rear)

Right on, they do look better in person. They used my white 996 to do the photos. I liked them and may still pull the trigger on a set. I just don't like their color choices. I would prefer gloss black or other powder coat options. Given how cheap they are, I can always get them powder coated myself.

The Apex wheels on your white Turbo is what convinced me to pull the trigger! Gorgeous car... I will also say that the Anthracite color looks way better in person than it did in the renderings... I already have a set of silver wheels and black wheels, so anthracite was the clear choice!
Awesome...and partially why I did the photo opp. First to see what they looked like on my turbo but to also help other 996tt owners see another inexpensive, good option (besides Forgestar or OZ). I liked them but am just partial to my "blingy" royal gold color (on my 18" Signature Forged SV104's). Anthracite is a bit too "muted" to me after gold. I may still pick up a set in GT2 sizes and powdercoat them gold. Thanks!

that sucks as i need a cpl new 18" anthracite OZ. those apex look like a more expensive *looking" version of the oz allegeritas. i could always pair the anthracite apex with the oz in front and who would know lol.
