You didn't start the flaming but you started the argument by saying that your 740 could keep up with the 996TT's. We have since conceded that a driver with very good knowledge of the road has a big advantage. The thing that might have started your apalling behaviour may have been me suggesting that you didn't have a sense of humour. This in itself has led you to call me a moron and various other names - I don't have a problem with that. What I am beginning to have a problem with is that you seem to have no respect for Porsches in general. You are quite happy to trash anything that is not the latest and most expensive model. I think that in itself is disgusting especially as you are not even a Porsche owner and have shown a considerable amount of ignorance of the various models.

Perhaps you should consider cars from other makes as they can be far more expensive and therefore can be a better statement of your drivers skills and earning power. I still can't believe you came on a Porscheboard and trashed Porsches. Amazing. Grow up.

Hamann

I have just seen the post above where you called me an idiot (I was writing the above response at the same time). The defence rests.

To: Christer or anybody else that can see that this guy Hamamm7 is nothing more than a moron, please don't bother with this ignorant fool, He's totally depraved of any reasoning, He does not have the capability to understand, his mind is a one way street(very narrow one way) I think that he is either
retarded or high in drugs. I apologize for this guy, I feel ashamed that we have people like him in the US. He lacks of respect for others and for himself to come in a Porsche board talking like that. You can tell that he is a phony and a loser.

Perhaps you have some insight into the relative performance of a previous generation 740i with the sport package.

Geez...amazing just how this thread has deteriorated, and now I feel I have to throw in my two cents. I don't personally know any of the parties involved so this is purely my third party observation.

Just how did this thread spiral downhill? Bookeditor criticizes Wilber for his grammatical deficiencies, to which Wilber asks that he not make fun of his (relatively) poor English. Bookeditor replies that he was just kidding, BUT at no point does he apologize to Wilber - THIS IS NOT COOL. Even if his intent was to make a joke, well it was a bad joke and what's important is that it was perceived as an insult and an apology is in order. I would have to side with Wilber, and by default with Hamann7 on this one.

Next Christer chimes in and says that Wilber, and Hamann7, need to have a sense of humor. Well, yes a good sense of humour is alway nice to have but so what if you don't have one?? Last time I checked a sense of humor was not a requirement for postinig on Rennlist, and there is no reason why Wilber should be forced to laugh at a percieved insult. If, as an example, Christer (or anyone else on this board) was ugly or mentally deficient and in jest I make a joke about this shortcoming (not realizing that my joke hit too close to home for comfort)...should I be able to hide behind the excuse that it was not intentional? Or should I acknowledge that my joke was far from funny, that I hurt someone's feelings, and that the right thing to do would be to apologize?? Or should I instead respond that the recipient of my unintentional insult should not be so serious and laugh at the fact someone pointed out how ugly or stupid he is?

I'm not trying to add fuel to this fire, but I still think an apology is in order to Wilber; and I see nothing wrong with Hamann7 standing up for someone who he thinks may need support. It's not Bookeditor's original intentions that are important, it's what the end result is that matters. If I were to accidently run over someone's dog it would only be right for me to apologize even if was unintentional...or should I instead say that no apology is in order because it was an accident?!??

And btw, I was not born in the US and English is not my first language, and although I do not have the resources to own a 996TT or a GT2 that shouldn't stop Bookeditor from making fun of my grammar as well....

Sigh....let's move on.

UN believable. Hammas 7 is concerned that his BMW will be attacked by a kamakazie 951. And then says that everyone with a sub 20K car is insecure. So let me see if I have this right. Mr I'm not insecure (Hammas 7) would be glad to race and show the prowess of himself & his BMW if it were not for his fear that the "insecure" driver of some sub 20K car might pull a Dale Earnhardt on him. I've heard a lot of bull**** excuses before but I believe this one is "the greatest of all time."

My 740 is more expensive than any single car that you own. Although, that's not saying a whole lot... <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" />

Yeah try buying an '00 740 sport in the 20K range. Not gonna happen...

Rather than trying to join the bashing bandwagon, why don't you actually SHOW UP to one of our meets?

To those of you who think you are gods in your BMW yuppie mobiles:

You never change...your self esteem is tied up in the badge on the hood...

Why is it all BWM owners have to bash on the 944 series cars? A 740i vs. a highly modified 944 turbo. Give me a break! If you even tried to follow in too deep into a corner you would be towing that over grown status mobile out of the woods.

The best part is we spend much less money, have more exclusive cars, and still can outrun your middle aged sorry-*** into next year.

I used to get a lot of crap from 3 series owners when I first got my 944. The truth was their ego's were way larger than their mechanical or driving skills. I never even bothered to waste my gas on a 318i, 325i or 325e with the 944. Most guys who drive 7 series aren't after speed anyway.

Still to this day, nothing has changed. They see the 8" wide wheels on the Audi S4 I drive to and from work every day and want to play. If I had a dollar for every yuppie 5 or 7 series driver I have smoked with my old 5 cylinder 2.2 liter Audi, well I would be about $15.00 richer. Of course, that still isn't enough money to get me to "BMW Status Level". Maybe I should buy a BMW M-car and become a god?

It is a shame what the US market, or should I say US consumer, has made of the BWM...

Get your head out of your crack and grow up. Your 7 series has nothing on a well modified 944 turbo, nor will it...ever. You should look deep into the mirror of insecurity before you place that label on anybody. Or maybe that is just the way people are out there on the West Coast? Please tell me that isn't true.

All three of my cars were less than $20,000 each and I guarantee all of them turn more heads than that overweighted yuppie mobile 7 series. Are you happy now? Besides to rip on someone who has spent less money than you have on a car is acting very insecure and is nothing short of totally stupid. You are not a car enthusiast, but rather a person who drives it because it says Porsche or BMW on the hood.

Maybe you should consider a Lexus...it has that status image with a great reliability record. What more do you need?, you are obviously not an enthusiast, so just go after a status mobile and make yourself happy. You might actually be able to find a used one for over $20,000 as well. This is obviously your imaginary line seperating the boys from the men.

My work is done here...

Well said, John.

Another great member from the South. Why don't you learn how to read first? It's called reading comprehension. What was your SAT verbal score? Or do you even take SATs out in Kentucky?

I said that I will school you modded 944 guys when the GT2 comes in.

So how many cars do you need to sell to replace all those missing teeth?

Of course I'm not a car enthusiast. I just like the way the GT2 wing looks. Oh and those ceramic composite PCCB brakes, they look much better with their dull gray finish than those shiny steel rotors.

I never intend to drive the car past 35 mph. I would have bought a Lexus, but none of them come with gray brakes or that huge rear wing with air inlets. Maybe I should go look at some VeilSide bodykits then...

Nice of you to finally chime in. I was wondering when you or your bigot boyfriend George were going to join this fight like a couple of punks. You are a little late to the party, don't ya think?

What's wrong? Did your boyfriend not give you any lovin this morning? No need to take your sexual frustration out on this board...

Ruiner,

I apologize to you for contributing to this madness.

I am just getting tired of all these people coming out of nowhere to flame me.

I mean no disrespect to you and I will not respond to any more of these flame posts.
