Whatever... there isn't much left to say, is there?

It has been entertaining, gentlemen, but I don't think there is any point in arguing further.

The local 996 guys and I have mutual respect for each other, and that is important to me. I also have the respect and friendship of the local BMW M3 and M5 guys. Why the 944 and 964 crowd has to try to bash me on a 996TT board is beyond me.

I'm here because I like Porsche Turbos, and I am planning a GT2 or Ruf R Turbo purchase.

I actually like some 964 cars, like the Turbo 3.6 or the RS America. But those of you haters make it pretty hard to keep liking them...

And I take it as a compliment that you call me a good sci-fi writer. Hell, the one sci-fi writer on this board that I know is driving a beautiful '02 GT2!

Hamann7,
You have said some pritty idiotic things reffering to other P-cars, thats why you are getting flamed. If you didnt make those childish comments, then there wouldnt be a arguement. No one here knows how hard the others were driving, weather they were pushing thier car to the limit, or thier driving skills. You implied they were pushing thier cars to the limit and you could keep up, ......not possable. Now if you implied that they were either, not driving thier cars to the full potential or thier driving skills were not tuned enough to drive the car 100 percent then we would agree. This is all assuming you are an exellent driver. You just said a couple of stupid things, and then apoligized for it (like a man). I hope you enjoy your new P-car whichever one it is! You have a hard decision on your hands!!! R Turbo, or GT2????? Ask your self (I did) weather you will have the R Turbo stripped like the GT2, or have all those heavy *** saving options like the regular turbo. If you are as good as a driver as you say you are (like I think I am), I'd get the R Turbo stripped and ready to race! Good luck and hope to hear what your final decision will be.

Turby,

If you look back at the threads I am not the one who started the bashing. I merely defended my car. This all started because of some dip****s who thought it would be fun to make fun of others on this board who happen to be my friends. If I get flamed for it, then **** it, bring it on!

I don't need to prove anything to people who flame me without having seen me drive or how well I know the roads. I am very certain, however, that I can smoke any of these 964 guys in the SM Mountains. I know the roads and the capabilities of my car in relative to those roads, you guys do not. I learned to drive on these canyon roads, you guys also did not. And that is the advantage.

If you think that these factors are not a huge advantage, then come find out.

You also need to realize that just because you take your car to the limit, it doesn't mean you are actually FAST. Those who are smooth around the corners will always be faster. FYI, the 996TT that I was following up Latigo was pushing his car very hard, and he had 600hp. Of course he was faster than me, but no more than about 2-3 seconds. Not bad for 8 miles worth of windy canyon. Most of that gap was created on the exit of the turns or on the few straightaways. Our entry speed was pretty close. I consider that keeping up... if you guys don't... then fine... I guess I wasn't keeping up.

I also run regularly with the 996TT guys, and they know I don't lag behind. We often go at a very brisk pace... You guys might also be surprised to know that on some canyons, the leader is usually a well-driven Boxster S, and he makes it very hard for the 996TT's to keep up.

Now once my P-car comes in, it's a whole nother story.... bring your modded 944's and 964's and I will give you a tour of the mountains-- if yall can keep up!

FYI, I am more inclined now to get the GT2. If I get the Ruf it will be with AWD because it will likely be a conversion.

I am a decent driver... don't know about good. But I do know my car and the roads well.

One final food for thought. Not that I am anywhere close to being a pro driver, but, if you had to race Michael Schumacher in a Mercedes S500 vs. you in your P-Cars on the track for a couple of laps or in the canyons, would you win?

Even if I was in a 911 GT2, I don't think I would. I would do well even to keep up with his pace.

So please tell me how driver skill doesn't make a large difference!

These posts about "pushing the limits" while canyon driving are funny, in a sad kind of way.

Mr. Hamman7 I left for a while thinking this would be over by the time I came back, but man do you ever give a rest to your mouth? now I know why all the other guys don't want to say the true story, probably because you'll never shut up and drive everybody crazy with your annoying superhero stuff, take a napp, go to sleep. Tomorrow will be a better day. As for me "au revoir" "hasta la vista baby" "good night"

I don't think so, with his ego(and imaginary skills) he needs something big and fast with a flame thrower like the Batmobile. Just kidding. I'm backing off this thread. it has gone from ridiculous to ludicrous, I'll have to go back with the below 20k insecure 951 drivers. I just figure what poor hamann7 needs is love, and I’m not in that kind of business.

Glad you like your toaster.

DSC, the BMW's lame version of PSM, will give you quite a safety net over a patch of sand on the road. It does not protect against imbeciles like some people on this board.

Anyway, what is there left to bicker over? I find myself addressing the same type of comments from different people.

xtrc, you say I'm the one who has the mouth? You seem all too eager to reply to all my posts. In fact, you hadn't even posted on this board before this thread. I don't see you making any constructive posts at all to this board, all you do is make negative comments about me.

Gosh, I guess I must have ruffled a few feathers... Even if my 740i is soooooo slow as you guys claim (without any basis mind you), at least it's more pleasant to look at than a 944!

OK, now I'm finally done. So what was this thread originally supposed to be about? A Mitsu VR-4, right? ****, I would even take THAT car over a 951...

Hamamm7 do you want to know why I replied, well first of all, it's real funny to see a fool like you being smashed "that's real entertainment". Second, I don't see anybody getting angry or making such low derogatory, foolish statements but you, and I find it amusing seeing a grown up man acting like a 5 year old. You are making a complete idiot out of yourself, I don't know how old are you, but grow up and become a real man, it may take you a long time but don't give up, keep the same “super hero bs” attitude, it may help. By the way isn’t kind of late for a child like you to be up?. Hamamm7 you can say anything you want about 951’s, nobody is going to bother with someone who has lost self respect the way you have, blasting people with your foul language and your world class ignorance. We are not angry , we are laughing!!! Thanks for the good time. About the race between you and I, guess what you’ve already won !!! the only place I stand a chance against you and your "super bmw" (LOL) is in fairyland.

You're comparing apples to oranges, in every possible way. Do you honestly think that a 600HP 996TT would only be 6 seconds ahead of your BMW after 8 miles if the driver was trying even the least bit to outrun you? No one is attacking "you" or "your car." You are making statements that are just downright assinine, and people are calling you on it. I think it's funny as hell.

Styling is relative, but there isn't a single specification, feature, stat, time, way, shape, or form, in which the BMW is lighter, quicker, stickier, more agile, or faster than a 996. Hell, most 951s with anything more than a simple chip and exhaust put down better numbers. I love BMWs, I love big ones like the 7 series, but I know what they are. They are big luxury cars. If you can really hang with the Turbo guys, then you're a great driver, that's nice. But why come out and start talking trash about other cars? Have some respect for what they are, maybe other people will show you some respect.

The fact that you're dismissing the 944s for being ugly is just icing on the cake, I'd hate to hear what you thought about the 914.

Happy Motoring!

Hamman7,
"I know the roads and the capabilities of my car in relative to those roads, you guys do not. I learned to drive on these canyon roads, you guys also did not. And that is the advantage."

Very true, I agree 100 percent.

"Now once my P-car comes in, it's a whole nother story.... bring your modded 944's and 964's and I will give you a tour of the mountains-- if yall can keep up!"

But you continue to bash the 951 like a child. If I werent in Boston, I'd show you what a modded 951 could do. Man, god knows I'd love to come over there and go for a drive with you guys! Do the #'s yourself.....alot of guys on the 944 board have 400HP+......The one in my avatar had 450....the next I am building now will have 550HP+. I am surprised no one on the 944 board came for a run yet? You can say the 951 is ugly, blah, blah, blah... So what, I dont like the look of a 740 Bimmer but you dont see me (or anyone else) saying that.

"You also need to realize that just because you take your car to the limit, it doesn't mean you are actually FAST. Those who are smooth around the corners will always be faster."

Another good point, you have some type of sense in you, so why continue on bieng so stupid?

BTW, I spent in excess of 50k on my last 951 withinn 6mos, I can afford lots of fast cars (although not a R Turbo) so not all of us 951 drivers are poor either. Not that this has ANY relivence to the subject at all. But again I am not trying to argue further, just trying to let you view a diffrent perspective from another P-car owner who happens to own a 951.

Turby,

I am sure your modded 951 is very fast, but I do not think it will be as fast as either a GT2 or R Turbo assuming the same drivers. When I finally take delivery, you can come down and find out for yourself.

That is just my opinion, but I think it's a well educated guess. Not bashing the 951, just stating the obvious.

I didn't buy the 740 for its performance, I just happen to be kinda fast in it, that's all. Oh yeah, and let me state the obvious for the people who still don't get it-- I would be much faster in a 996TT than my BMW and perhaps even faster still in a GT2. Just in case you guys couldn't infer that already.

First I had to deal with that idiot Christer, then all of his 964 buddies, now I have to deal with all you 944 people. Jesus Christ, if I wanted to deal with all of you, wouldn't I be posting on those boards?

But I am not, because frankly, like the 914, I couldn't really give a **** about 944's. So if you are trying to get me to admit that I like or admire 944's, you won't get that from me.

I gave credit to a couple of the 964 models like the RS and the Turbo 3.6. But the 944 is just not my taste. So be it... what do you guys care?

Frankly, I don't care if you like my BMW or not. So continue to bash it if it makes you guys feel better.

Meanwhile, I will be concentrating on deciding between a Ruf car or a GT2. Cheers everyone!
