In all fairness there are more people than not that would likely want you to STFU. Its like you feel obligated to ramble post. Quit it and im sure attitudes will change.

Of course no testing has been done on a 996... since this post is about the oncoming testing on a 996.
Conditions on a 996 will be easier for the plenum, cooler, the plenum is smaller, and has more reinforcement than the 986 one, like I said previously.

The first prototype is painted and cleaned, I hope to test it with Meir soon!

Andrew's one will show up soon!

Ben, is the model public domain, or are you keeping the 3D model under wraps?
I will keep the 3D model, even though the 996's is fairly straight forward compared to the 986's.
I've contacted a foundry to make it out of aluminum, since it's a material that people tend to trust more (even if it's less suited for a N/A intake part).
The problem was quantity, I had to make 30 to match the 3D printed price, which is a huge investment for me, in money and time (once cast, you need to machine it, and it's not as simple as throwing the part on a machine and go, especially when you start to make a small series).

Trying it yourself, why not? Though casting hollow parts is not easy, you can take a regular 996 plenum and try to replicate it first!

For the tube, I like the straight elbow idea, since we can always cut it to size, that's how I did for the boxster, a puzzle of cut universal intake tube and elbow. Work pretty well in the end!
The plenum is a bit shorter but the throttle body is a bit longer. We'll see!

I've never heard someone use a group think heuristic defense when being told to **** off.

Anyhow, here's the g-pipe & cap. Changed the oil this week. Happy motoring.

Helmholtz resonator delete. This was originally known as the "orange cap" mod when someone realized that the cap from an Edge shaving creme can fit perfectly after removing the stock hose. The pink/red cap with the expanding plug is a nice little update to the orange cap.

yeah - it sounds great to me. I love it with this setup and am tempted to not toy around with exhaust because the soundtrack is so enjoyable. The cap is very durable & not expensive. I opted to go as big as possible to lower reliance on the expansion. Even if the screw loosens it should stay put. The silicon hose is coolant-grade stuff from what I understand so risk is well within my tolerance. Safer than aftermarket stuff imho & no worries going through the car wash anymore

No need to get the silicone hose and that cap. All this can be done with the factory hose and a shaving cap. I've done this to my 996 and at the end everything looks stock. Total cost $0.

Man, I'd heard the Ben's Plenum thread was interesting, and it sure is! I almost went to make popcorn while reading the whole thread. Now I think I actually will because popcorn is food, and inside I'm a ten year old fat kid.
