It's Nr. 0850 for sale currently in Germany. Not very good pics on their website. This is the best they have.

my wheels need a refurb and I was also considering black, looking at black chrome as a possible.

Someone with a 40th AE with blown engine due to IMS failure $23k or best offer on eBay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-Porsche...p2056016.l4276

What's a new engine cost 14-19K? Maybe a good candidate for a Raby built engine.

It is #657 btw.

There is also a functioning one on eBay at a Porsche dealer too - 38.9K. They said they did the IMS. Obviously that is their asking price, because they both have make offers available, but I think I would rather get a 997.

Wow - I just got that car' s info from the salesman at that dealership yesterday. That car was apparently previously purchased through them and now traded on something else. They were asking $44,900 (http://www.champagnemotorcarcompany....zip=&distance=). $20K haircut in 24 hours. Yikes.

Holy cow - what a coincidence.

So the dealership took the haircut, not a customer if I am understanding what happened correctly.

I would like to have my a 40th AE again - I miss mine. I am going to send them an offer I know they will refuse, just to see - who knows, maybe they will take it and I will put it on my Visa and save it for a future Raby engine :-)

I really like the pic of the stock wheels refinished in gunmetal. Might have to do that down the road.

Another poor 996 that just didn't get driven enough. A 40AE with one of Jake's engines would be pretty sweet!

Thanks Jake.

I really like the 40th, but to make the numbers work with a new engine & the shipping charges from the auction to me, and then shipping the car to you and back and still pay a fair market value he would have to sell that rolling chassis to me for $7000. Offer declined by the seller of course - he is better parting it out instead of taking my offer, plus he has the sting of the 20K haircut (or whatever the true haircut was on the trade-in price).

I think I was being very impulsive - I can get like that :-)

Thats why we fill 40AE engine bays 5-6 times per year :-)

The latest one went 4.0 and made 347 RWHP and over 300# of torque :-)

Which 40th AE #'s have your engine in them?
5 - 6 a year there must be 20 = 3- at least running around.
I would love to talker to some of those folks, maybe i'll update mine down the road too. So how about some 40th AE numbers? There is a registry many 40th AE are accounted for and on this forum Jake.
