A great if rather cold and windy day, I think the article will be in the next issue but I will let you know.
Great pics - looking forward to seeing the article. It's quite interesting to see the evolution of the 911 over three decades. Did you get to spend any time behind the wheel of the 30 Jahre and 50 Jahre cars?

No, the photographer kept us very busy and in between the static shots we were all sheltering in a nice warm cayenne. We also did loads of driving shots but we were all in our own cars.
I must say however the new 50th looks great in the flesh.

Alive. Just lurking.
Responsibilities have kept me from the forums let alone autocross.
#646 has 85k and other than a self induced electrical gremlin, going strong.
Contemplating keeping it for a long time as my DD, but dreaming of a weekend car. Maybe a 50th!

#418 for sale $34,950 at a local car dealer.
http://www.jordanmotorcars.net/Used-...TX/vd/18601352
I am interested in this car, although it seems to be a little overpriced. The previous owner is listed here as 67FJ45.

67FJ45 did own that car - see p.18 of this thread where he said, "Hello everyone. Just wanted to let you know I traded my 40th (#418) for a new Cayman, so I won't frequent the 996 forum anymore. It's been very enjoyable. I loved my 996, but it's time to move on. Cheers."

Although it's not always easy to keep up with which 40AEs are for sale and keep their pricing current, I do have the ones for sale highlighted in a different color in the registry with information on the selling prices and miles. I've also begun adding the cars' histories to the extent I have them (e.g., info from CarFax reports and from the owners themselves). This process will take a while but I hope will prove useful, if not at least interesting.

Hi all! Found this great thread after getting a private message on Porsche Club Swedens forum from TAZ40JAHRE. Still wondering how on earth he found me there! :-) I'm living in Gothenburg on the West coast of Sweden and I'm the owner of #1487 since almost three years. Car is parked away now for the winter and will be so for two more months or so. Did a few track days last year and also a couple of slalom events with the club but really enjoys driving the car down through Europe on my holiday!
Regards Andreas

Greetings, Andreas and welcome!

Glad to hear #1487 is hibernating peacefully and getting ready for track season. There is a great group of 40AE owners on this board. If what I previously read was correct it sounds like there were very few 40AEs allocated to Sweden when they were originally sold, but around 800 made it to the USA and Canada so there is a pretty active bunch here on Rennlist. Love to see some photos of your car if you get a chance to post them here. I'll update the registry to reflect your car's number.

PS - Google is a wonderful thing - that's how I found your posting on the Porsche Club Sweden board. It's amazing what you can find when you search on the translated variations of "40th anniversary", such as "Porsche 996 911 Carrera Jubileum 40 år".

Thank you! Yes, if my info is correct we got 5 cars allocated to Sweden, one for every Porsche Center in Sweden at that time. I'll post some photos of the car as soon as I can!

Can anyone tell me what the precise offsets are for the wheels exclusively on the 40thAE? I want these for track wheels. Mine's not at home right now and I'm trying to work out whether the wheels from an 03 C4S will fit.

The specs on the C4S wheels are:
Front 18x8 ET50
Rear 18x11 ET45

Knowing the offsets on the 40AE wheels will help me figure this out.

Thanks.

- Front 8x18, 50mm offset 225/40-18
- Rear 10x18, 65mm offset 285/30-18

I am also looking for an alternative OEM wheel for the AE and found this blurb of info somewhere on Rennlist as I was considering narrow body GT3 wheels at one time. Hope this helps and provides the information you are looking for.

There are 2 kinds of GT3 style wheels, those for narrow body cars, and those for wide body cars.
However, the GT3 wheels for NB cars will fit. The 8.5" front may rub your fender liner depending on the tire size and alignment. Too much caster will not help you. You should not have to roll the fender to get 225/235/245 to fit. The rear 11" may also rub, but on the actual fender. You may have to roll the fenders to get 285/295/305s to fit.

8" x 18" - ET50 - Fits the front of any 996
8.5" x 18" - ET40 - Fits the front of any 996
11" x 18" - ET 45 - Fits the rear of a widebody 996
11" x 18" - ET63 - Fits the rear of any 996 and widebody 996 w/spacer
12" x 18" - ET45 - Fits on the rear of 996 GT2 only

That's no. 0592. The car's ownership history is listed in the registry. It started out at Blue Grass in KY and, after an estate sale in early 2012, ended up in California for sale at Platinum Auto Haus in Redondo Beach from which the most recent owner purchased it. The Carfax (as of 1/7/13) didn't show any damage or title problems.

I've added all of the ownership history that I have for each car on the numbered list in the registry and am now plowing my way through the un-numbered list, adding whatever history I've found. If you haven't read it in a while it's worth a look. I've located over 400 40AEs with identified limited edition numbers and over 500 hundred that I don't (yet) have numbers for. When you compare this volume of info to what is on the website registries like the ones for the early 911, 911T, 2.7, 3.0, etc., our number of identified cars meets or exceeds theirs. In fact, of the 400+ with known nubmers, I have contact info for the current owners of about 150 cars, and contact info for another 200 or so who are the last known owners, many of which likely still own a 40AE.

Two of our RLers from England, churny and moorhouse, have been hard at work gathering the UK owners, while owners on pff in Germany (like DPA_911) and club911 in France have rallied their local owners. The reception that the registry has received has been enthusiastic, and suggests that we may have an opportunity to grow this thing into a more meaningful platform that will pay tribute to these wonderful pieces of Porsche history.

I'll keep at this and the registry will continue to grow. If anyone has suggestions on how to improve it, or on what info should be collected and/or presented, please post it here or PM me. Thanks.

Amazing work and passion on this!

Seems like there are a lot out there for sale. At least a dozen on Autotrader alone.

Taz
great effort on your part keeping the registry going. Just turned 162,000 mile.
Has anyone had any front wheel bearing issues, can't tell if its the bearing or the blizzacks making
a low level grinding sound. any comments?
thanks
steve
