the light in the pic is great as well, shows off the awesome lines.

I agree. The only time my car shows it's age is when it's surrounded by newer cars at the dealership.

Yesterday I got a smog check on my 996, since it's 10 years old that needs to be done at a "test-only" station (non-repair shop).

Well, they still need to make a visual check of the engine.

Of course you know the guy first opened the front hood...and quickly closed it, ha.

It certainly was a pleasure to meet Ed yesterday! The colorful sunset really did look awesome on his car, much better against my sand colored one. Attach is a clip my gf took of his sweet sounding exhaust.. And oh yea, he spanked from the light (wicked fast and beautifully modded! Good job Ed!)

You let him open the hood?

I would not, my car is black and I dont want some test pilot putting scraches in the paint or denting the hood by pressing down at the wrong area
Call me a *****, but unless the guy is as **** about those things as me... dont touch the car!
I had a guy look at my car a few weeks back (its semi-sort of for sale) and he rubbed his hand on the rear bumper to see how clean the paint was under the dirt from daily driving....I didnt say anything to him, but wanted to kick his teeth in.........

did I go OT there ?

My story is from a few years back and only involves a bit of a foot race.

So I'm inside the local Batteries Plus, which sits directly across from an autoparts store, both with parking in front and not a lot of distance between. While inside talking to the sales person, I notice a white '02 Camry covered in marks and dings start to back out from the spot directly across from mine. All I can do is watch in horror as I see my car lurch forward upon impact as our rear bumpers meet. The Camry then pulls forward off of my car and backs up again, this time clearing my car and proceeds his forward progression. This is the point I realize he's not stopping to get out, as I expected. He's heading toward the parking lot exit! I immediately kick it into high gear and go flying out the front door of the store and place myself between his car and the exit onto the street. I Tell him to stop, which he does, and out steps a VERY geriatric (late 70's or 80's) frenchman with some of the thickest glasses I've ever seen. He's already spouting profanities and broken English at me. I am having trouble making out exactly what he is saying outside of the curse words. I explain to him that he backed into my car and he continues to curse at me, so I tell him we can exchange info or I can call the police. So he heads over with me to look at the damage to my car. There are cracks in the paint on the bumper and white marks from his Camry's paint. He is still cursing and all I can make out is that he "better not get a bill for more than 30 bucks." He then bends down to get a better look at the damage and this is where I nearly faint. He proceeds to spit into his hand and starts rubbing my bumper vigorously, over and over. I calmly tell him to stop touching my car, I can feel my fists clenching, but I remain calm. Finally we head inside and I have him write up what happened and we both sign it. Surprisingly, his writing skills are decent, although I still can't understand what he is saying. I'm not too worried about him denying things anyway, as both the Batteries Plus employees saw the whole thing and said they would gladly speak on my behalf if needed. That night when I get home, I give his insurance a preemptive call and tell them what happened.

The agent calls me the next day chuckling, as she tells me she contacted the owner and couldn't understand what he was saying outside of a few profanities, but she was able to speak to his wife who translated his account of what happened for her and they would be taking care of everything.

Awe man, good thing you saw it!
I can assure you it will cost more than $30 to fix, good luck with the repairs. In my case I also took pics so IF it shows up on the carfax I can say... here is your "accident" to the next owner... mine was more like a "scuff" ... still, once reported as an accident some buyers will shy away from it...thus why I took pictures

Thanks Ferd - I never get to hear it because inside it soulds almost stock silent
part of why we got together was so Herb could hear the exhaust and see the spacers since basicaly our cars are the same....showed the amberectomy as well which I think he liked....
I think there were some nice high rev runs w/o traffic, but we were having too much fun to think about recording those

Today I was behind a guy in a Silver 997 4S Coupe with a NJ Temp tag on it. I watched him blast through a nice turn and the car just broke loose, he sideswiped a guard rail pretty good and came to a stop. I pulled over to see if he was OK.
Car was pretty banged up and the owner could not understand why the car did that. I had the be "that jerk" who pointed out that he had summer tires on the car, Conti's. There was also a pretty good amount on salt on the road as well. This guy had no clue they would not perform well in 18 degrees F. Oh well.... We cant all be Rennlisters.

Tell me how these guys, who don't have an ounce of common sense, can hold down a job that allows them to buy 100K cars! Now I certainly don't claim to be Einstein, but I am not Goofy either!

Why couldn't I have been born rich instead of handsome, intelligent, witty, and humble?
