Burnt 996 Rebuild

Looks fantastic, impressive on so many levels. Glad your first real drive went without incident.
Hope this is not a repeat question, but did you have to do some creative wiring to defeat the steering wheel airbag light?

Thanks guys. It feels almost like a real car now. I was very pleased with how fast it is. It sounds heavenly with the Billy Boat headers & mufflers, EVO CAI, RSS plenum, and GIAC flash all working together.
I still have to deal with the airbag light. I decided to reinstall the passenger airbag. I would feel terrible if I got into an accident and my wife got hurt because I deleted it. I believe I can either install an appropriate resistor or pull out the light bulb. I'll probably go with the former.

I didn't know that was negotiable. I just assumed you HAD to replace airbags. Maybe different laws in different states. You have done such a marvelous job to this point, it would be a shame to not get to the 100% mark. Absolutely awesome!

+1 on the B&B/Evo combo - I have them also.
I'd be interested in hearing how yours sound if you have a clip - here are mine.

apterr, thanks. I don't know of any laws in CA concerning the replacement of airbags. We don't have safety inspections, only smog...go figure.
Wellardmac, I hate to admit this, but I have no idea how to make a sound clip. I would be happy to make one, if you could tell me how. I really love the sound.

Mark, you rebuilt a burnt Carrera. You have essentially infinite credit in the "knowing stuff" bank, so don't worry about admitting the sound clip thing; it's a tiny withdrawal.

Interesting on the air bag - I was wondering about that.
As for the sound clip, I just made a video with my camcorder and uploaded it to Youtube.... simple to do, but you need a camcorder and software to get it into an uploadable format.

carpundit, thank you...you give me more credit than I deserve. I'm lucky that rebuilding crispy critter Porsches doesn't require knowing stuff. I would be in serious trouble. It's like putting together a big jigsaw puzzle.
Wellardmac, I guess I would have to own a camcorder first...sorry. The headers made it sound even better than the mufflers & CAI alone. Going under bridges and through tunnels is great fun.
Arnee, I love the steering wheel. I was worried about getting the Alcantara. No regrets. It feels great. Probably my favorite mod. 10-15 more hp easy

I just received my instrument cluster back from 928 leather. Robb does great work. I had him do the installation...best $60 I ever spent. I installed it and I'm very pleased with the results. Having the instrument cluster and airbag cover done in leather makes the cheap plastic dash look a whole lot better. Now I can finish installing the steering wheel area. I purchased an Alpine head unit & amplifier that I'm having installed next week.
