oops, or whoops, a bigger oops, my bad, please excuse my crass response, my wife drives a 996 and it has actually been the better car in many ways, please accept my apology, sometimes my mouth gets in the way, all good, cheers...and i post here because of the 99%+ rate of friendly and helpful porsche caretakers here...

Will I have the same benefit on my 997 Turbo?
I tried to remove it today (unsuccessfully)...man it's a tight squeeze and I'm not that big at 6' 205lbs. I'm having trouble finding a suitable pin/nail/allen key to stay in place. I did see how the canister gets loose when to press the clutch with the pin so at this point do you rotate the canister to get it out of the slots? Should the clutch be all the way in or part way to get it out? Then attempt to remove the c clip and pin from the other end? Also, on the Turbo, once you've pressed the clutch a few times it's no longer "assisted" and is as stiff as a GT3RS clutch so I'm having a hard time holding it down while holding the pin in and also trying to wiggle the canister out. I'm almost tempted to get the dealer to remove it...my hands are all scratched and cut lol I really don't know how some of you are doing this in 10minutes...you guys have some skill. TIA.

what i did on my 997S was i took off the lower dash on that side, there are threads that will give you a step by step assist....i tried doing itwith that in place and we are about the same size... there was no way i could manage that...with the dash removed it was a whole different thing, you can see what you need to do and get 2 hands on it...i used a wire from a large paper clip holder thing, you can see what kind of wire you need much better when you can see in there, could even manage a headlamp to help see...once i got it done was like getting a new car, will never go back....REALLY WORTH THE EFFORT...! good luck... !!

Gentlemen does anyone know the procedure for a right hand drive car?
So far i've been able to put the holding pin in place, pop out the C clip, push the clutch all the way to the floor.
I can see the rod/bolt that needs to be removed but there is a gold plate in the way? I can see 90% of the bolt but it appears that if I was to move it the gold plate is preventing it from dropping out.
My intention is to re-install a new booster spring that I have already purchased.

The gist of what happens when you disengage the clutch is:
1 the cruise drops out to keep the engine from racing
2 the ECU gets a signal to "soften" the E gas to help ease clutch re-engagement so it will last longer.
My guess is if your clutch switch engagement point is loose enough to make cruise intermittent it will also confuse the ECU.

I couldn't get the new spring in after getting the old one out. The new part has a much wider canister and mine is RHD so there must be some differences.
Anyway going from a broken bound spring, to no spring to a new spring I can say that with the new spring is so much better. It's smoother to operate and easier to drive. That and my cruise control works again.
I wouldn't have it any other way!
