Who said anything about rarest? I was talking about the finest model year ever, like in all Porsche history, for all time, like ever.

Sort of says a lot about the Rennlist 996 subforum that a thread on the rising tide lifting all boats with 996 pricing devolves into argument. Food for thought for those with an appetite.

The absolute unmatched benefit of the collective braintrust here is sometimes lost in the petty bickering and pedantry.

Thus scratches, which are rare given the material’s intrinsic durability, are virtually invisible on MY1999 interiors.
The few scratches on mine from the previous owner prove otherwise.

Not sure if I've got soft touch plastic or not; just thought it was all leather. Will have to check. My PSM is alway on, so that's not an issue for me either.
My 2k is the same...and I don't have PSM, either, and I have a 4-spoke wheel (and it was dual row before Flat 6 IMS Retrofit)

Same here, and quite honestly didn't want it. Didn't want LSD either. About as bare bones as the car could get, it's perfect.

Thats interesting because both Suncoast & Erik @ Bumperplugs have always maintained there’s actually two different versions of the original “Granite” material. Perhaps these correlate with “early” and “late” MY1999 differences as well. I would need both side by side to differentiate.

FWIW my build date is 07/98 and scratches in the “Granite” are virtually invisible.

Yep, one is more rough than the other. Only the earliest cars have the more interrupted surface, and it has a slightly different color as well.

That jives with my 9/98 build car. It’s a smooth material though it has a very fine roughness to it.

There you have it: early and late Granite. Boy Weiderking lost zero time sucking every penny from every penny the second after Ferry’s death. UN freaking believable.

There was a factory fire at Porsche. The early cars that you want
are 4/98 and earlier. The story says that some of the heads were smoked and they polished them and
used them in the built, those have a higher tendency to crack. Jake there is a glacier white 99 in Canada 96,000 miles California rebuilt tittle. I maybe buying that car depending on what the dot here in Texas says about the tittle. They are king of funny on my car they gave me a blue clear tittle for whatever reason they put exempt under the mileage, have to love those government employees.

The fire was in early 1999, not 1998.

Edit: actually, wasn’t it in early 2000? Now I forget…
