Prices Keep Drifting Up

Yep. I know they demand less although I’m not sure why they are so underrated. Combined, those two options added up. Per the window sticker in 2000, the MSRP was $95K (not including the TechArt option package) about $20K more than a comparable coupe with manual transmission.
It’s not underpowered and the transmission response is great in Manual. In Automatic it constantly shifts up to save on MPG, which is unnecessary and feels slow, if you’re worried about fuel economy in a Sports Car 🤣🤣🤣. I always drive in manual - it’s very quick, the tranny shifts faster than you can, & it handles great!
The 996, more so with the Cab/TIP, reminds me of the resale beatings the 928s got because the Porschephiles didn’t LIKE them even though they are phenomenal P Cars. It’s too bad really because the 996s are the last of the P Car 911 sports car. The later models are more GT than sports car and full of electronic gadgetry.
Oh well, guess I’ll have to keep her 😎

Manual cars throughout history have and always will command more money than automatics. There is no sense in trying to convince yourself they are equals. That doesn't make one car any better than the other, and some out there may prefer a particular model in auto vs. manual. At the end of the day, the number of folks who want manual > than the number folks who don't.
I have a Chevy SS sedan (Holden Commodore) that I am about ready to list for sale (will probably wait until spring though at this point). When I bought the car, I specifically wanted an automatic because I was going to daily it (never did) and I sit in a ton of traffic. I am fully prepared for the car to sell for 15-20% less than a 6-speed equivalent. Just the way it goes...

I kid. But I am also correct. Far more people want PDK. You could argue more people want manuals than are produced in the primary market, relative to the PDK market. You could also argue I'm a pedant.

It seems most people arent aware of FSI or want all original
I feel like Jake has been a double edged sword to the 996 market. Talking them up while making everyone believe their engine is a ticking time bomb, and that his solution is the only way forward to keep your car on the road. Now, with the changes at LN/FSI resulting in less replacement engines, a strict customer selection acceptance process, and FSI no longer doing the swaps really complicates things for those who want one of his engines and may scare some away from the 996.
Yeah, the BAT buyer has gotten alot more knowledgeable from the begining of the pandemic thru today on what to look for when purchasing an M96 powered 996. But I gotta agree, most still have no idea about the cost nor value of service and maintenence history performed, nor the cost of quality engine rebuilds. But they will, as the 996 fever continues to spread and folks do their homework. In the meantime, buyers can find a FSI powered 996 for a good price if/when it hits the market. I for one would love to find a FSI powered C4S convertible for my wife. It's only a matter of time until one is offered for sale. Maybe it will get lost in the shuffle as folks go nuts for a unicorn colored low mileage 996 that has had only one oil change in 20 years, that is bid up to infinity and beyond.

It's a Stage I, built for reliability. Since they're already doing Nickies they do the displacement upgrade but not a lot else (beyond using the best parts they can find and doing excruciatingly careful assembly).
