I'm trying to figure out if I should buy a Turbo now. They seem to be going up and up
I don't see prices going down or staying the same. Figure these cars new, NA to Turbo's were $80k-$130k, they had their days of being critiqued, but those days are over, and I think more people are realizing it. Especially when they get behind the wheel and drive one.
The same thing happened with other older Porsches (some discredited at the time just like the 996 was). Then you talk to previous owners / see posts of "I can't believe I sold my 964/993/914 for XX years ago, still kicking myself seeing where prices are today!"
Not saying that means 996 is destined for the same kind of future, but we are seeing increased prices today, and people are paying those prices.
I have a friend in Chicago seriously thinking about selling his 04 tt cab 6MT with X51 package, black on grey. think it has under 40k miles. Guessing $60-$70k based on current market.
A few months ago there was a blue non sunroof TT 6 speed in SF bay area for 28k. It had 120k miles.
I couldn't get time off work or else I would have bought it
In color (purple) Vesuvio is exactly halfway between darker Aubergine, and lighter Amethyst. And it’s exactly half as metallic as Amethyst. Appears 100% matte non-metallic in shade, but some metal flake is perceptible in direct sunlight. There is nothing like a purple Porsche. As soon as they hit 30+ years old they become worth their weight in solid gold. No idea why.

@bdronsick back in Dec. 1979 my frat brother drove from NY to CA over x-mas break to try selling his Aubergine 911. Ended up driving it back across country, everyone in LA wanted white or black. Hope he never sold it.
Yup. No one ever wanted to drive a purple Porsche to work. But everyone wants to drive one to Amelia Island 🤑🤑🤑

Wow these prices.
I passed on a manual 996 turbo with 125K miles for just $32k less than a month before I bought my 996.2 C2 in Sept 2017.
I could have doubled my money.
Of course I only spent $20k on mine with 50k miles.
I could make a good profit, but then I’d be sad without my 996.
