Well that's probably a $25k car with the original engine.

Ah, I had forgotten about the general condition of this car. You're right.

111k miles and fetching $35,800 all-in is close to 2x pre-covid value.. Part of the increase is due to overall jump in 996 prices but give the engine credit for 5-10k bump in my opinion

but there is one more variable. The millennial idiot factor. These are the same people that
are paying $16-$18 for a Buffalo trace Pour, that’s a $24 bottle any day of the week. Anyway to each his own, if I buy something has to make sense to me. A bunch of these people are still living with their parents, and because they got a political science degree now they want they government to forgive
their $100k student loan, go to Starbucks and talk to the baristas many stories like this. I’m glad I’m done. I have paid every single loan I have taken in my lifetime that’s just
irresponsable as heck. Anyway I’m 54 on the 13 so I don’t have to live with a bunch of these nightmares.

I don’t think so in this case. Bidders were chasing the Raby content based on my read of the comments.

I read those as well. Same principle applies in the gun world, if you have a certain gunsmith improve on your gun... it's automatically worth 3x as much.

I got a set of 3.6 Je pistons, rods, apr hardware coming my way. Raby was the original builder. Anyway as of today with almost 100k miles with the mods the car is consistently hitting 60 in 4.6
seconds. It’s a 3.4, almost as fast as a 997.1 Carrera S, don’t know what kind of clutch I’ll go with and definitely some head work. A 3.6 built may get me 4.2-4.3 that’s pretty good for me.

I can't figure the P-car crowd out. I keep hearing about how desirable the low option cars are. Do y'all like cars that are optioned up or not? Either way this sale seems to be on the high side.

I mean, everyone is different in what they look for, regardless of make or model. I definitely prefer lower optioned cars, but wouldn't be put off by something with more options if it ticked the main criteria was looking for.

What's been impressed upon me by other owners is that those seeking lower options view the cars as more "pure". An even more driving focused sports car.

I personally like a car (any car really), as optioned out as possible. For me a loaded car, particularly one with Exclusive Options, is infinitely more desirable than others.

Performance options vs cosmetic options seems to be the distinction. Factory sports exhaust and factory aero kit vs deviated stitching, etc, ....

I haven't followed the market enough to have an opinion, but I would guess the low option value bump is a myth. For any option that adds significant weight (e.g. Cab, Tip, AWD) -- absolutely it applies -- otherwise, the only "low option" I would want is actually an option ("sunroof delete"). Full leather and 3-spoke steering wheel are a must have for me. HiFi option and deviating interior colors are close to must have. PSM/traction control can be turned off -- I can't imagine not having those options to be preferable value-wise (especially since physics is very much against rear-engined cars and they should be left on for most drivers under most conditions).
