re: prices

https://www.goodingco.com/lot/2002-p...996-carrera-4s
This surprised me, and gooding apparently. They were estimating $40k-$60k.. instead we got a new high-water-mark for 996C4S.

re: GT7

I'm loving it. Even on a PS4 as I don't have a PS5. The racing is an evolution of GT sport, but the new single player, tuning, and customization options are big improvements. I recommend it for sure.. PSN name is pulpoinspace

Not if you already have iRacing, IMO. iRacing is the most ‘sim’ compared to GT7 or GTS, and GT7 is in the middle. I didn’t have iRacing and so, a $399 PS5 is cheaper than having to go and upgrade my PC for $600 (CPU, Board, RAM) and then $1000 on a GPU.

Racing sims are still WAY cheaper than tracking my 996, although I still enjoy hitting a real track every now and again.

I disassembled and sold my iRacing rig. Too much of a time suck to stay competitive at a high level. Looking for a more casual experience.

So far, GT7 is going to take a lot of time to get to a class A driver rating. It’s not easy and there seem to be a lot of people competing. In GT Sport, I was 3-4 seconds off the fastest qualifying lap times, which put me in the top 3,000 fastest drivers for that race. GT7 is even harder.

Im looking for folks like me to race with in groups. That will be the most fun, not to be the fastest, but to have fun with folks in a group.

And finally, in keeping with the thread’s topic, I cannot tell if this car has a clean carfax or not, but it certainly could be a garage queen. A 2002 manual cab with 20,000 miles listed for $40k: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/8...ff=share_other

The Autocheck looks pretty good: https://www.cars.com/vehiclehistory/...8ba/autocheck/

Is it unusual for a dealer to auction a car like this, though?

Great thanks man I'll check it out. I was ranked 3rd overall in the USA at one point on Gran Turismo 5 but I was a younger man then. Probably be lucky to be on the board at all now 😅

I think it’s normal for a dealer to auction a car they received on trade-in, especially an older 911. Plenty of dealers want nothing to do with these cars. However, if more than one or two dealers keep offloading the car to auction, then likely something is wrong with it. If a dealer finds a car that has a problem, they will most likely just send it to auction.

Nah, dealers will sell wherever they can make money. If they don't have a local clientele and auctions are doing well, there's no reason for them not to auction.

Ahhh yes - Inter Mediate is two words it seems. Never gave that much thought.

Probably will sit in someone's garage-museum and not get driven.

I wonder why the seller (second owner) even bothered putting the Ohlins Road & Track suspension on it as well as the other work? From the CarFax the seller did all this work and never drove it. Hope the new owner introduces themselves on the GT3 forum.

Trust me, it's not the headlights, it's the car!
