Towards the end, about 7:35-ish, this guy says anyone looking to buy should buy now before the 996 gets too expensive

Kid knows his stuff at a young age, talented in many areas. Hope he keeps spreading the 996 love. Thanks for posting.

I don’t like to say this, but I think the main reason the 996 has gone up in value is due to...inflation.

More demand than supply, then prices go up.
More supply than demand, then prices go down.

Since no more supply is being created, demand must be going up. Yes, it's causing an inflation in 996 prices, but inflation isn't causing the price increase. Demand is.

There is inflation in the economy for sure, but 996 prices are moving well faster than inflation. The escalating values are very much demand driven just as much as the prior drop in 996 prices was supply driven. Covid restrictions changed lots of personal habits, including driving for pleasure vs just as a way of getting somewhere. As bad as its been for many people, many segments of the population have done well during this depressing period in our history. Add in a new generation of young drivers who idolized cars as kids and are now buying them. Influencers, as weird as that concept is to me, are real with today's youth. Just my $.02.

The last year has been the perfect storm for enthusiast cars. You nailed it, driving a car is something you can do by yourself and for those who did not lose jobs being stuck at home not going out, or on vacations means more money for something like a car.

Here is the cool thing. The gas powered porsche's we own aren't going away. While the rage is electric motors, the reality is that they are not practical as of yet due to lack of battery/energy storage, distance limitations and lack of charging stations. Yes this will change someday as infrastructure is built and we figure out the future of transportation. In the mean time, as more electric cars are sold as a percentage of all new sales, the novelty of a gas powered car will become more "collectible" . Not Honda's and Toyota's, but the Porsche 911.

For those that think "gas" will go away, think again. It may not be petroleum based, but it will be "gas" nevertheless. When you get the chance, Google Porsche efuel. You will read all about Porsche teaming up with Siemens, Exxon and a few other companies in South America to develop environmentally friendly bio fuel to run "gas" powered cars. They have been chewing on F1's ear about making this part of the 2025 requirements. Wait till they use this technology to create a "true" environmentally friendly hybrid engine that gets 100 miles to the gallon without a footprint. Why would you want an 100% electric car that only get 300 miles when you can have an environmentally friendly hybrid Taycan that can drive forever on a tank of bio fuel.

In the meantime, our cars go up in value because demand continues to rise, and will accelerate once Porsche and other companies have a finished bio fuel product to power it.

We live in incredible times. If you haven't already, better buy a 996 before they are too damn expensive.

Couldn't have said it any better! This response is absolutely perfect. I read a lot about eFuel from the Porsche releases a few months ago when the new GT3 dropped. I think they'll figure out a way to do it and most of the OEMs will get on board. They all want to keep their classics and heritage cars on the road. I also think electric is a fad and isn't going to be the future. The mined minerals that are needed for the batteries and electric components are expensive and limited, as well. Not to mention it's a little similar to conflict diamonds.
